''The Artist's Magazine'' is a monthly magazine for artists formerly published by F+W Media in Cincinnati, Ohio. The magazine was founded in 1983 and claims a circulation of 60,000. The founding company was Fletcher Art Services. F&W Publications acquired the magazine in September 1986. In 2019 the company stopped its operations and its publications were sold. Macanta Investments, LLC, acquired ''The Artist's Magazine''. It focuses on painting technique, special effects, marketing, and business topics. It published the book, ''The Pencil Box: A Treasury of Time-Tested Drawing Techniques and Advice'' (2006). In July 2012, ''The Artist's Magazines publisher bought out Interweave, the publisher of another art magazine titled ''American Artist''. After their final issue December 2012 (75 year special), further publications from its writers were incorporated into ''The Artist's Magazine''. Jerry Weiss (artist)
Jerry Weiss (born October 21, 1959) is an American figurative, landscape, and portrait painterHagen, Debbie"Profiling portraits: the most custom of all custom art—portraits, can present a variety of challenges to artists and art dealers" ''Art Business News''. Retrieved September 7, 2009. and a writer. He studied classical drawing, and his career has centered on both the figure (usually from life studies), and landscape (often painted in the outdoors). Weiss' paintings are held in such collections as the New Britain Museum of American Art and the Harvard Club of New York. Kenney Mencher is an American painter. He is Associate Professor of Art and Art History as well as the director and curator of the Louie-Meager Art Gallery at Ohlone College in Fremont, California, and he has previously taught at institutions including the University of Chicago and Texas A&M University. He is also the author of ''Liaisons: Readings in Art, Literature and Philosophy'', a thematically-framed textbook about how the study of culture relates to students' other classes and to life in general.
