''Rick Rock Presents Federation: The Album'' is the debut studio album by American hip hop group The Federation. It was released on October 5, 2004 via Virgin Records, and was entirely produced by Rick Rock. It also features guest appearances from Daz Dillinger, E-40, and Twista among others. Despite being released for a major label, The album was poorly promoted and was a commercial failure, just managing to reach the bottom of the US ''Billboard'' 200 at number 200. The album's two singles, "Hyphy" and "Go Dumb", also failed to find much success, only reaching 88 and 95 respectively on the ''Billboard'' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The Federation is an American hip hop group from Fairfield, California. The group was formed in 2002, composed by producer Ricardo "Rick Rock" Thomas and consists of three rappers: Anthony "Goldie Gold" Caldwell, Marvin "Doonie Baby/Doon Koon" Selmon and Thomas "Stressmatic" Jackson. The group released their debut studio album in 2004 on Virgin Records and their sophomore album through Reprise Records in 2007, which is, to date, their recent effort. History Rick Rock and Doonie Baby’s friendship and collaborative work dates back to the early ‘90s in Alabama, where they recorded as two-thirds of the group Cosmic Slop Shop along with Big Lurch. Twista
Carl Terrell Mitchell (born November 27, 1973), better known by his stage name Twista (formerly Tung Twista), is an American rapper and record producer. He is best known for his Chopper (rap), chopper style of rapping and for once holding the title of fastest English-speaking rapper in the world according to Guinness World Records in 1992, being able to pronounce 598 syllables in 55 seconds. Larry Smith (producer)
Lawrence Smith (June 11, 1952 – December 19, 2014) was a pioneering American musician and hip hop record producer. He is best known for his co-productions (with Russell Simmons) of Run-DMC's ''Run-D.M.C.'' (1984) and ''King of Rock'' (1985) and his solo production of Whodini's ''Escape'' (1984) and ''Back in Black'' (1986). It is a measure of Smith's creative range that he could work simultaneously with the decidedly dissimilar Run-D.M.C. and Whodini. Joseph Ward Simmons (born November 14, 1964), better known by the stage name Run, Rev. Run or DJ Run, is an American rapper, producer, DJ and television personality. Darryl Matthews McDaniels (born May 31, 1964), better known by his stage name DMC, is an American rapper. He is a founding member of the hip hop group Run-DMC, and is considered one of the pioneers of hip hop culture. Early life McDaniels grew up in Hollis, Queens.
