The Act-Ups
The Act-Ups are a Portugal, Portuguese band formed in Barreiro Municipality, Barreiro, in 2001. Formed from the demise of country-punk band The Sullens, they started up with a formation consisting of three guitars, bass, organ and drums. Their first record, ''I Bet You Love Us Too'', released through Hey, Pachuco! Recs. in 2003 is a mix of garage rock, Punk rock, punk and Soul music, soul. Their second record, ''The Marriage of Heaven and Hell'' was released in 2006 through Hey, Pachuco! Recs. on CD. The record was also released in a European limited edition through Spanish label Beatnickmoon Rock and Roll Crafts. The band's line-up changed with Pistol Pete (The Act-Ups), Pistol Pete replacing Hellso on the drums and Gomez (was made for love) leaving the band. With this record the band had a great reception in Spain, which led them to tour the country several times. Later that year the band released an EP, ''Take me Home'' through Groovie Records. Barreiro Municipality
Barreiro () is a city and a municipality in Setúbal District in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 78,764, in an area of 36.39 km2. Barreiro has a view of the city of Lisbon from Avenida da Praia and a riverside area called Alburrica. The mayor since 2017 has been Frederico Rosa, elected by the Socialist Party. The municipal holiday is June 28. History There are records of the village of Barreiro from as far as the 13th century, when the Military Order of Saint James of the Sword promoted its settlement. Due to the village's location, the main occupation of the population was harvesting salt and fishing. By the time the Portuguese reached India and Brasil (early 16th century), it was in Barreiro that shipbuilding was concluded, since it started in Lisbon during summer and when the rougher weather arrived the construction had to be moved to somewhere with more sheltered conditions.
