That's All (Genesis Song)
"That's All" is a song by English rock band Genesis. It is a group composition and appears as the second track on their 1983 album ''Genesis''. It was the album's second single after "Mama". On June 17, 1993, MCA Records re-issued and re-released the song as a CD and "HiQ" cassette single. The U.S. single reached No. 6 in early 1984, making it their first ''Billboard'' Hot 100 Top 10 hit; it included "Second Home by the Sea" as the B-side. The UK single featured " Taking It All Too Hard" as the flipside, and reached No. 16. Also released was a 12-inch single that included a live version of "Firth of Fifth" from 1981. As the band's first break into the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 Top 10, the song is included in ''Rock Song Index: The 7500 Most Important Songs for the Rock and Roll Era''. Genesis (band)
Genesis are an English rock band formed at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, in 1967. The band's most commercially successful line-up consisted of keyboardist Tony Banks, bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford and drummer/singer Phil Collins. The 1970s line-up, featuring singer Peter Gabriel and guitarist Steve Hackett, was among the pioneers of progressive rock. The group were formed by five Charterhouse pupils, including Banks, Rutherford, Gabriel, and Anthony Phillips, and named by former Charterhouse pupil Jonathan King, who arranged for them to record several singles and their debut album ''From Genesis to Revelation'' in 1968. After splitting from King, the band began touring, signed with Charisma Records and became a progressive rock band on ''Trespass'' (1970). Sir Richard Starkey (born 7 July 1940), known professionally as Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who achieved international fame as the drummer for the Beatles. The Shorts
The Shorts was a pop group from the Netherlands consisting of Hans van Vondelen (vocals), Erik de Wildt (keyboard), Hans Stokkermans (bass guitar) and Peter Wezenbeek (drums). The group was formed in 1976, and scored a 1983 international hit with " Comment ça va" produced by Jack Jersey. Last "recorded" appearance is from Sopot Festival 1984. History The Shorts were founded under the name De Bliksemafleiders in Leiden in 1977 by producer Danny de Heer. On a talent show he discovered Hans van Vondelen , Erik de Wildt , Peter Wezenbeek , Frank van der Ven and Hans Stokkermans . Raymond Wilson (born 8 September 1968) is a Scottish singer and guitarist, vocalist in the post-grunge band Stiltskin and in Genesis from 1996 to 2000. Early career and Stiltskin Before starting a band called Guaranteed Pure in the 1990s, which featured himself along with Paul Holmes (keyboards), Steve Wilson (guitars), John Haimes (bass) and Chris Cavanagh (drums)., he joined Edinburgh Band Strategy in 1987 recording and independently releasing a demo titled Second Move. Guaranteed Pure released an album called ''Swing Your Bag'', the title track of which was included on a compilation album on the label of Fish entitled ''The Funny Farm Project : Outpatients '93''. It was released 1 September 1997 by Virgin Records, and is their only album featuring Scottish singer Ray Wilson as frontman following the departure of longtime drummer/singer Phil Collins in 1996. The remaining members—founding keyboardist Tony Banks and guitarist/bassist Mike Rutherford—decided to continue the band and write new music for an album, during which they auditioned singers and picked Wilson. ''Calling All Stations'' was released to mostly negative reviews from music critics who chastised its lack of direction, but praised Wilson's performance. It sold poorly in comparison to their earlier albums; it reached No. 2 in the UK and performed well in Europe, but it peaked at No. 54 in the US. We Can't Dance Tour
Following the release of ''We Can't Dance'', Genesis spent 13 weeks performing 55 concerts between May and July 1992, with a 16-date UK tour in October/November. Background The popular worldwide tour sold out arenas and stadiums (where they played on the U.S. leg of the tour). This proved to be Collins's last tour with Genesis until the band reunited in 2007. The album was re-released as a SACD/DVD double disc set (including new 5.1 and Stereo mixes) in October 2007. During the recording of ''We Can't Dance'' a 40-minute documentary called ''No Admittance'' was produced and broadcast on the Disney Channel. It has since been included in the bonus DVD released in 2007. The "We Can't Dance" tour featured shows in large arenas and stadiums throughout North America and Europe. The Invisible Touch Tour was a worldwide concert tour by the English rock band Genesis. The tour began on 18 September 1986 in Detroit and ended on 4 July 1987 in London. London dates at Wembley Stadium were filmed for a video release entitled ''Genesis Live at Wembley Stadium''. The group earned as much as $300,000 a night in North America alone.
