''Thank You, Jeeves!'' is a 1936 comedy film directed by Arthur Greville Collins, written by Stephen Gross and Joseph Hoffman, and starring Arthur Treacher, Virginia Field, David Niven, Lester Matthews, Colin Tapley and John Graham Spacey. Plot Bertie Wooster is a frivolous fop, whose insistence on planning a holiday in the French seaside resort of Deauville prompts his erudite manservant Jeeves to give his notice, declaring he will leave in the morning as he is tired of extricating Bertie from disastrous holiday romances. That night, as heavy rain falls, a mysterious young woman enters Bertie's London flat, carrying half of some secret plans. Arthur Greville Collins
Arthur Greville Collins (September 5, 1896 - September 1, 1980) was a British-born film director. Career Collins was born in London, and began directing for the stage, including productions of ''Fata Morgana'', ''No Man's Land'', and ''Tarnish''. In 1921, he married actress Betty Ross Clarke and accompanied her in her theatrical career in Great Britain, the United States, and Australia. In 1934 he wed Rhoda Shepherd. He moved to Los Angeles and directed some plays there, then moved into movie making as a dialogue director for Warner Bros. He worked in that capacity for two years then became a director, making several B pictures. He moved to Australia in May 1939 to make ''Seven Little Australians'' (1939) and decided to stay there. He served in the RAAF during World War II, being discharged as a squadron leader. He also was stationed as administrative officer for two years at Port Pirie and Mount Gambier. Bertram Wilberforce Wooster is a fictional character in the comedic Jeeves stories created by British author P. G. Wodehouse. An amiable English gentleman and one of the "idle rich", Bertie appears alongside his valet, Jeeves, whose intelligence manages to save Bertie or one of his friends from numerous awkward situations. ''Four Star Playhouse'' is an American anthology series that ran from 1952 to 1956. Four Star Playhouse was owned by Four Star International. Its episodes ranged anywhere from surreal mysteries, such as "The Man on the Train", to light comedies, such as "The Lost Silk Hat". The original premise was that Charles Boyer, Ida Lupino, David Niven, and Dick Powell would take turns starring in episodes. However, several other performers took the lead from time to time, including Ronald Colman and Joan Fontaine. The show was sponsored in its first bi-weekly season by The Singer Company. Bristol-Myers became an alternate sponsor when it became a weekly series in the fall of 1953 (both sponsors' names alternated as part of the show's title in its initial broadcasts). "Uncle Fred Flits By" is a short story by British comic writer P. G. Wodehouse, which was published in the United States in the July 1935 edition of '' Redbook'', and in the United Kingdom in the December 1935 issue of the ''Strand''. It was included in the collection '' Young Men in Spats'' (1936). The story is part of the main Drones Club canon. It features club member Pongo Twistleton and his mischievous Uncle Fred.
