Thanet Loop
The Thanet Loop is a circular bus route which operates on the Isle of Thanet peninsula in Kent, England. It is operated by Stagecoach South East. History The route was introduced in 2004 following a grant of £447,000 from the Department for Transport and had an initial fleet of 18 buses. In 2013, 27 Alexander Dennis Enviro200 buses were purchased for the route. In 2018, the route carried over four million passengers. In 2019, a new fleet of 24 new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC buses was introduced. Route The service has a circular route which passes through Ramsgate, Margate, and Broadstairs. Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC
The Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC (sold as the Alexander Dennis Enviro200) is a single-decker city bus produced by Alexander Dennis since 2014, as the successor to the Enviro200 midibus and Enviro300 full-size bus. The first Enviro200 MMCs entered service with National Express West Midlands in 2015. Notably, Enviro200 MMCs have been modified by Fusion Processing to be used as the basis for the first driverless bus trials in the United Kingdom. The Enviro200 MMC is available over a range of lengths, including 8.9 metres, 9.7 metres, 10.4 metres, 10.8 metres and 11.5/11.8 metres, as an integral twin-axle midibus or full-size bus. Westwood Cross is a British, open, pedestrianised shopping centre at Westwood, Kent. It opened in 2005, and since 2008 has incorporated a casino, cinema and bingo hall. History Westwood Cross is situated on the former Haine Hospital site, which closed in June 1997 and was demolished in 2003. Construction required filling of a deep railway cutting. Developers claimed the 2005 Westwood Cross created 1,500 jobs in the Broadstairs area. Kent County Council's decision to allow a 2008 expansion including leisure and gambling facilities was controversial. The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital is a health facility in Margate, Kent, England. It is managed by the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. Broadstairs
Broadstairs is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet in the Thanet district of east Kent, England, about east of London. It is part of the civil parish of Broadstairs and St Peter's, which includes St Peter's, and had a population in 2011 of about 25,000. Situated between Margate and Ramsgate, Broadstairs is one of Thanet's seaside resorts, known as the "jewel in Thanet's crown". Alexander Dennis Enviro200
The Alexander Dennis Enviro200 (previously known as the TransBus Enviro200) is a midibus that was manufactured by TransBus International and later Alexander Dennis between 2003 and 2018. The original TransBus Enviro200 design was innovative but ultimately unsuccessful, with few being sold before the introduction of the second generation Enviro200 (originally referred to as the Enviro200 Dart) revived sales for the product from 2006. It was supposed to be positioned in between a minibus and a rigid single-decker bus. The Enviro200 was originally designed to be the replacement for the Dennis Dart SLF chassis and Alexander ALX200 and Plaxton Pointer 2 bodies. The Enviro200 MMC was launched in 2014, eventually replacing the original Enviro200 and Enviro300, which went out of production in 2018 and 2016 respectively.
