Thalita De Jong
Thalita de Jong (born 6 November 1993) is a Dutch racing cyclist, who currently rides for Dutch amateur team JEGG–DJR Academy. In 2016, de Jong won the elite women's title at the Dutch National Cyclo-cross Championships, the UEC European Cyclo-cross Championships and the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. Career She competed in the 2013 UCI women's team time trial in Florence. She won gold at the 2016 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Zolder, Belgium. After five years with , in August 2016 announced that de Jong would join them for the 2017 season, leading the team on the road and in cyclo-cross. De Jong suffered a 2017 cyclocross season ending injury, falling at the Grand Prix Adrie van der Poel. Bergen op Zoom (; called ''Berrege'' in the local dialect) is a municipality and a city located in the south of the Netherlands. Etymology The city was built on a place where two types of soil meet: sandy soil and marine clay. The sandy soil pushed against the marine clay, accumulating and forming hills over several centuries. People called those hills the ''Brabantse Wal'', literally meaning "ramparts of Brabant". ''Zoom'' refers to the border of these ramparts and ''bergen'' in Dutch means mountains or hills. The name has nothing to do with the little channel, the ‘Zoom’, which was later built through Bergen op Zoom. History Bergen op Zoom was granted city status probably in 1212. The 2016–2017 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup – also known as the Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup for sponsorship reasons – was a season long cyclo-cross competition, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The competition took place between 21 September 2016 and 22 January 2017, over a total of nine events. The defending champions were Wout van Aert in the men's competition and Sanne Cant in the women's competition. Van Aert was able to defend his World Cup title with a round to spare, not finishing any lower than second in the seven races – four wins and three second-place finishes – prior to his crowning. 2015–16 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup
The 2015–2016 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup events and season-long competition will take place between 16 September 2015 and 24 January 2016, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). With CrossVegas, this season featured the first World Cup cross outside Europe. Defending champions are Kevin Pauwels in the men's competition and Sanne Cant in the women's competition. Points distribution Points are awarded to all eligible riders each race.
