''Thakarachenda'' ( ml, തകരച്ചെണ്ട) is a 2007 Malayalam film directed by debutant Avira Rebecca with Sreenivasan and Geethu Mohandas in the lead. The film is based on a real-life incident. The film was released on 9 August 2021, along with Shaji N. Karun's docu-fiction ''AKG (film), AKG''. A drama film, drama by genre, the film is an example of black humour and sarcastic comments. It received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Debut Director, Best Debut Director Award and Kerala State Film Award (Special Jury Award), Special Jury Award (Sreenivasan) at the Kerala State Film Awards. Plot The film is set in a slum in Ernakulam and focuses on a group of slum dwellers who are usually ignored in the ambitious blueprints of city developers. Sreenivasan (born 6 April 1956) is an Indian actor, screenwriter, director, dubbing artist and producer who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema. Sreenivasan has starred in over 225 films. Geethu Mohandas
Gayatri Das (born 8 June 1981), known professionally as Geetu Mohandas, is an Indian actress and director known for her works in Malayalam cinema and Bollywood. In 2013, she directed the socio political film '' Liar's Dice'' which has received two National Film Awards, was premiered at Sundance Film Festival, and was chosen by the Government of India as India's entry for the U.S. 87th Academy Awards, but was not shortlisted or nominated. As an actress Geetu's birth name is Gayatri Das. The Kerala State Film Awards are the film awards for a motion picture made in Kerala. The awards started in 1969 by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala and since 1998 the awards have been bestowed by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs. The awardees are decided by an independent jury formed by the academy and the Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Kerala. The jury usually consists of eminent personalities from the film field.
