Thai Bank Museum
The Thai Bank Museum ( th, พิพิธภัณฑ์ธนาคารไทย) was established by Siam Commercial Bank with the objective of gathering and collecting documents and tools that demonstrate the evolution and development of the country's financial and banking systems. It exhibits historical financial and banking artifacts and serves as an academic research location for the next generation of scholars. The museum was inaugurated at Siam Commercial Bank's Talad Noi Branch in 1983. It later moved to the Bank's Ratchayothin headquarters in Chatuchak District, Bangkok, with the official opening ceremony held at the in-house Thai Bank Museum building on January 29, 1996. Siam Commercial Bank
Siam Commercial Bank ( th, ธนาคารไทยพาณิชย์; ) is a Thai bank that was founded on 30 January 1907. History SCB was founded as the "Book Club" on 4 October 1904 by Prince Jayanta Mongkol, a brother of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), who was convinced that the time was ripe for Siam to have its own banking system to help foster the country's economic development, rather than rely on foreign banks operating branches in the country. The name "Book Club" was chosen in an effort to keep the project sub rosa as it was something of an experiment. After the success of the "Book Club", King Chulalongkorn granted royal approval for it to officially operate as a commercial bank under the name "The Siam Commercial Bank" on 30 January 1907. Siam Commercial Bank Talat Noi Branch
The Talat Noi Branch is Siam Commercial Bank's first permanent office, and the oldest operating bank branch in Thailand. It is located in Talat Noi Subdistrict of Bangkok's Samphanthawong District, at the periphery of Bangkok's Chinatown. The building, designed by Italian architect Annibale Rigotti in the Beaux-Arts style, was built in 1908 or 1910. It sits on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, almost next to the Holy Rosary Church, and is listed by the Fine Arts Department as an unregistered ancient monument.
