Thad Tillotson
Thaddeus Asa Tillotson, Jr. (December 20, 1940 – May 16, 2012) was a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball pitcher. Listed at 6' 2", 195 lb., Tillotson batted and threw right handed. He was born in Merced, California. Tillotson played for the New York Yankees in and . He also played one season in Japan for the Nankai Hawks in . Tillotson was originally signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 1960. In 50 career games, he had a 4–9 record with a 4.06 earned run average. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. American expatriate players began to steadily find spots on Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) rosters in the 1960s.
