Tha It, Nonthaburi
Tha It ( th, ท่าอิฐ, ) is a ''tambon'' (sub-district) in Pak Kret district, Nonthaburi province, outskirts Bangkok. History Tha It dates back to the late Ayutthaya period more than 200 years ago. Locals have a career in making bricks from baked clay. Hence, the name ''Tha It'', literally means "brick wharf". There are many wharfs for loading and unloading bricks along the Chao Phraya banks. In addition, Tha It Muslims are also famous for slaughtering and processing beef with exporting them to various places around the country to become famous local products in present. In the past, Tha It was also known as a place to plant good-tasting Marian plum. Geography Most of the area of Tha It is a lowland alongside the Chao Phraya River and canal Khlong Bang Bua Thong. Wat Saeng Siritham
Wat Saeng Siritham ( th, วัดแสงสิริธรรม) is an ancient Thai Buddhist temple in Tha It, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi province, outskirts Bangkok. Formerly known as ''"Wat Khwit"'' (วัดขวิด), this temple was built in the late Ayutthaya period. When Burmese occupied Nonthaburi in 1765 (two years before the fall of Ayutthaya), the temple was deserted. Later in the early Rattanakosin period the locals joined to renovate the temple in the year 1784 and received a major renovation in the year 1845 during the King Nangklao (Rama III)'s reign by a wealthy Chinese named ''Niam'' (เจ้าสัวเนียม), who was an owner of local brick factory. There are two principal Buddha images in Māravijaya posture namely ''Luang Pho To'' (หลวงพ่อโต) and ''Luang Pho Dam'' (หลวงพ่อดำ) enshrined in the old vihāra (sanctuary). The Chao Phraya Express Boat ( th, เรือด่วนเจ้าพระยา ''Ruea Duan Chao Phraya'') is a transportation service in Thailand operating on the Chao Phraya River. It provides riverine express transportation between stops in the capital city of Bangkok and to Nonthaburi, the province immediately to the north. Established in 1971, the Chao Phraya Express Boat Company serves both local commuters and tourists. It also offers special tourist boats and a weekend river boat tours, as well as offering boats available for charter. Along with BTS Skytrain and Bangkok MRT, using the boats allows commuters to avoid traffic jams during the peak hours on weekdays.
