Loop 121 is a partial beltway around the city of Belton in the U.S. state of Texas. Route description Loop 121 begins at an intersection with FM 439 near Belton Lake. The highway travels through more rural areas of the city, running near the western edge of Belton and passes just east of the campus of University of Mary Hardin Baylor. Loop 121 travels through more commercial areas between I-14/ US 190 and I-35 as the highway passes near the Bell County Expo Center. East of I-35, the highway travels through a more suburban area of Belton before ending at an intersection with FM 436. History Loop 121 was first designated as Spur 121 on May 29, 1941 as a highway in Brewster County, connecting SH 227 (now FM 170) to the town of Terlingua. Belton Lake
Belton Lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Leon River in the Brazos River basin, 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Belton, Texas, United States. The lake extends into both Bell County and Coryell County. Belton Dam and the lake are both managed by the Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The reservoir was officially impounded in 1954, and serves to provide flood control and drinking water for Belton, Temple, and the surrounding communities. Belton Lake is a popular recreational destination. In the fall of 2018 Lake Belton was host to the annual “Lonestar Throwdown” kayak fishing tournament. Teams from the North, South, Central, and West Texas regions battled it out for bragging rights and ultimately North Texas took home the coveted trophy. Interstate 35 (I-35) in Texas is a major north–south Interstate Highway running from Laredo near the Mexican border to the Red River north of Gainesville where it crosses into Oklahoma. Along its route, it passes through the cities of San Antonio, Austin, and Waco before it splits into two auxiliary routes just north of Hillsboro. I-35E heads northeast where it passes through Dallas. I-35W turns northwest to run through Fort Worth. The two branches meet up in Denton to again form I-35, where it continues to the Oklahoma border. The Bell County Expo Center is a 6,559-seat multi-purpose arena, in Belton, Texas. It was formerly the home of the Texas Bullets ( PIFL), the CenTex Barracudas (IFL), the Central Texas Stampede ( WPHL) and the Central Texas Blackhawks (and later Central Texas Marshalls). Brewster County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. It is in West Texas and its county seat (and only city) is Alpine. It is one of the nine counties that comprise the Trans-Pecos region, and borders Mexico. Below is a list and summary of some of the deleted state highways (i.e., those with no current routing) as outlined by the Texas Department of Transportation designation files, indicated by having zero current mileage. SH 1 State Highway 1 ran from El Paso through Dallas to Texarkana. It was the first highway designated in 1917. In 1926, the United States Highway System was designated, with US 80 colocated from El Paso to Dallas and US 67 from Dallas to Texarkana. On September 26, 1939, the dual designations were removed, leaving SH 1 only on a small stretch west of Dallas. This section was redesignated as State Loop 260 on August 20, 1952. Farm To Market Road 170
Farm to Market Road 170 (FM 170) is a highway maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in Presidio and Brewster counties in Texas. The route, known locally as the River Road, runs along the United States side of the Rio Grande which in Texas forms the international boundary between the U.S. and Mexico. The road runs from Candelaria through the city of Presidio as well as several smaller communities and former settlements to State Highway 118 in Study Butte near Big Bend National Park. The road also passes through the southern portion of Big Bend Ranch State Park. The highway was first designated in 1945 and over the years was gradually extended outward from Presidio.
