State Highway 41 (SH 41) is a state highway that runs through the Texas Hill Country in Kerr, Real, and Edwards Counties. History SH 41 was proposed on April 22, 1919 as a route from north of Del Rio to Boerne via Rocksprings and Kerrville. On August 21, 1923, the designation was truncated to Mountain Home, with the section east of Mountain Home being transferred to SH 27. On May 23, 1951, the western section was transferred to U.S. Highway 377, shortening the route to its present length. On May 1, 1972, SH 41 was extended from SH 27 to I-10. Rocksprings, Texas
Rocksprings is a town in Edwards County, Texas, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 1,182, down from 1,285 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Edwards County. The town received its name from natural springs associated with the porous limestone rocks in the area. History J. R. Sweeten sited Rocksprings in 1891 because of the springs nearby. Also in 1891, the town acquired a post office and was made county seat. The original courthouse built in the town burned in 1897. By 1914, Rocksprings had a population around 500. During the early 1900s, hostilities between Anglos and Mexicans along the "Brown Belt" were common. In Rocksprings, Antonio Rodriguez, a twenty-year-old Mexican, was burned at the stake by a white mob for allegedly killing a white woman, Effie Greer Henderson. Mountain Home is an unincorporated community in Kerr County, Texas, United States, at the intersection of State Hwy 27 and State Hwy 41. Texas State Historical Association Mountain Home has a post office with the ZIP code 78058. Texas Hill Country
The Texas Hill Country is a geographic region of Central and South Texas, forming the southeast part of the Edwards Plateau. Texas State Highway 27
State Highway 27 is located in Kerr and Kendall counties and runs parallel to Interstate 10. History SH 27 was a route proposed in late July 1917 to run from Ft. Stockton to El Paso. On March 18, 1918, a section from San Antonio to Sonora was added. On August 21, 1923, it became one continuous route from San Antonio to Balmorhea. Everything west of Balmorhea became a portion of SH 3. The section from Kerrville to Bandera was cancelled, and the section from Bandera to San Antonio was renumbered as part of SH 81. SH 27 was rerouted southeast to Boerne replacing a portion of SH 41. In 1927, it was cosigned with U.S. Highway 290.
