State Highway 312 (SH 312) is a proposed state highway from US Highway 90 Alternate (Alt. US 90) just west of SH 6 south to Interstate 69/ U.S. Highway 59 (I-69/US 59). The highway was originally designated in 1986 as SH 362, and was renumbered as SH 312 in 1987. , the highway has yet to be built. Sugar Land is the largest city in Fort Bend County, Texas, United States, located in the southwestern part of the metropolitan area. Located about southwest of downtown Houston, Sugar Land is a populous suburban municipality centered around the junction of Texas State Highway 6 and Interstate 69/ U.S. Route 59. Texas State Highway 6
State Highway 6 (SH 6) runs from the Red River, the Texas–Oklahoma state line, to northwest of Galveston, where it is known as the Old Galveston Highway. In Sugar Land and Missouri City, it is known as Alvin-Sugarland Road and runs perpendicular to Interstate 69/ U.S. Highway 59 (I-69/US 59). In the Houston area, it runs north to Farm to Market Road 1960 (FM 1960), then northwest along USS 290 to Hempstead, and south to Westheimer Road and Addicks, and is known as Addicks Satsuma Road. Interstate 69 In Texas
Interstate 69 (I-69) is an Interstate Highway that is in the process of being built in the US state of Texas. It is part of a longer I-69 extension known as the NAFTA superhighway, that, when completed, will connect Canada to Mexico. In Texas, it will connect Tenaha and I-69 in Louisiana at the Louisiana border through the eastern part of the state and along the Texas Gulf Coast to Victoria, where it will split into three branches: I-69E to Brownsville, I-69C to Pharr, and I-69W to Laredo. The first segment of I-69 in Texas was opened in 2011 near Corpus Christi. Karnes City, Texas
Karnes City is a city in and county seat of Karnes County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,111 at the 2020 census, up from 3,042 at the 2010 census. The town was named after Henry Karnes of the Texas Revolution. Karnes is southeast of Floresville and southeast of San Antonio on U.S. Highway 181. History In 1894, as a result of a special election, the county seat was moved from Helena to Karnes City. Ten years earlier, Colonel William G. Butler (1831–1912) had blamed Helena and its corrupt mayor for the death of his son, Emmett, who was killed on December 26, 1884, by a stray bullet from a bar fight. Butler, a wealthy rancher, retaliated by arranging for the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway, which started construction in 1885, to bypass Helena. The railway started operation in 1886. Texas State Highway 80
State Highway 80 (SH 80) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that runs from Karnes City to San Marcos. History The original highway was designated on August 21, 1923 from San Marcos to Luling, replacing most of SH 29A (the rest of SH 29A was cancelled). On October 12, 1925, SH 80 was extended to Wimberley, but this did not take effect until January 1, 1926. On April 6, 1932, SH 80 had a planned extension south to Nixon designated. On February 13, 1934, SH 80 was extended west to south of Blanco. On July 17, 1934, it was rerouted to end in Refugio over part of SH 29. This change was undone on January 19, 1935. On July 15, 1935, the section west of Wimberley was cancelled. On September 22, 1936, SH 80 was extended to Karnes City, replacing a portion of SH 112.
