Texas State Highway 195
State Highway 195 (SH 195) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that runs from Interstate 35 in Georgetown north to FM 439 in Killeen. In Killeen, SH 195 is known as Fort Hood Street, as the highway leads to the entrance of Fort Hood. The Texas Memorial Highway System has designated the entire road as the Phantom Warriors Highway. History This route was designated on June 5, 1933, from Georgetown and turned approximately north of Florence, to meet up with SH 74 (now U.S. Highway 183), as a renumbering of a portion of SH 74, which was rerouted further west. The section from Killeen southwest 5 miles was originally designated FM 440 on June 11, 1945, but was extended south 3.8 miles on May 26, 1949, and to SH 195 in Florence on May 23, 1951. Georgetown, Texas
Georgetown is a city in Texas and the county seat of Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 67,176 at the 2020 census. It is 30 miles (48 km) north of Austin. Founded in 1875 from four existing colleges, the oldest of which had been founded 35 years earlier, Southwestern University is the oldest university in Texas. It is in Georgetown about one-half mile from the historic square. Georgetown has a notable range of Victorian commercial and residential architecture. State Highway 138 (SH 138) is a state highway that runs between U.S. Highway 183 and SH 195 across northern Williamson County, Texas. The highway was originally part of SH 195. When SH 195 was redirected north of Florence to Killeen over RM 440 on January 27, 1988, this portion was redesignated as SH 138. Route description SH 138 begins at an intersection with US 183 in rural Williamson County, near the Burnet County line. It two lanes wide and travels east with some curves passing through no incorporated municipalities. North of Florence, it intersects Business SH 195, the former alignment of SH 195.
