State Highway 105 (SH 105) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that runs from Brenham to the outskirts of Beaumont. The route was originally proposed in 1925 and took its current routing in 1984. Route description SH 105 begins as a pair of one-way roads at an intersection with Business U.S. Route 290 in downtown Brenham. It then progresses northeast out of Brenham through mainly farming lands. It passes near Washington-on-the-Brazos, Texas, which is the birthplace of Texas as the location of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence. It then crosses the Brazos River before passing through Navasota. The route briefly joins SH 6 before proceeding east again. It passes near Lake Conroe before entering the city of Conroe and an intersection with Interstate 45. Brenham, Texas
Brenham ( ) is a city in east-central Texas in Washington County, United States, with a population of 17,369 according to the 2020 U.S. census. It is the county seat of Washington County. Washington County is known as the "Birthplace of Texas," as it contains the site of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836 in the town of Washington-on-the-Brazos. Navasota is a city in Grimes County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,643 at the 2020 census. SH 1 State Highway 1 ran from El Paso through Dallas to Texarkana. It was the first highway designated in 1917. In 1926, the United States Highway System was designated, with US 80 colocated from El Paso to Dallas and US 67 from Dallas to Texarkana. On September 26, 1939, the dual designations were removed, leaving SH 1 only on a small stretch west of Dallas. This section was redesignated as State Loop 260 on August 20, 1952. State Highway 90 (SH 90) is a state highway that runs between Madisonville, Texas and Navasota. It was originally designated by 1933 along its current route, except that it extended southwest from Navasota to Brenham. This section was transferred to SH 105 in 1973. History The routing between Madisonville and Navasota was originally set before the state's highway system was started. By 1919, a rail route between the cities existed, run by the Great Northern Railroad. By 1922, a basic highway had been built between the cities (designated October 20, 1919 from Buffalo southwest via Jewett and Normangee to Navasota; rerouted on July 20, 1920 to the Madisonville to Navasota route), which was designated as State Highway 32A, which branched off the main State Highway 32 in Madisonville. Cleveland is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, within Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area and Liberty County. The population was 7,471 at the 2020 census. History In 1854, a church and convent were built by Father Peter La Cour near the town's present site. The town began forming in 1878 when Charles Lander Cleveland, a local judge, donated of land to the Houston East & West Texas Railway (now part of the Union Pacific Railroad) for use as a stop, requesting that the town be named for him. It is part of a longer I-69 extension known as the NAFTA superhighway, that, when completed, will connect Canada to Mexico. Sam Houston National Forest
The Sam Houston National Forest, one of four National Forests in Texas, is located 50 miles north of Houston. The forest is administered together with the other three United States National Forests and two National Grasslands located entirely in Texas, from common offices in Lufkin, Texas. The units include Angelina, Davy Crockett, Sabine, and Sam Houston National Forests, plus Caddo National Grassland and Lyndon B. Johnson National Grassland.
