Teviotville Tree is a large Moreton Bay fig tree in Teviotville, Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia that featured in the movie ''L'Arbre'' (in French) or '' The Tree'' in English. The tree is a large, 130-year-old fig tree which was considered by the French producers to be a perfect tree for the movie, after an exhaustive search for just the right one (per the DVD bonus material). The joint Australian-French movie is an adaptation of Judy Pascoe's novel ''Our Father Who Art in the Tree'', starring French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg. The three-month movie shoot was completed in February 2010 and the movie was released in Australia on Sept 30, 2010. ''Ficus macrophylla'', commonly known as the Moreton Bay fig or Australian banyan, is a large evergreen banyan tree of the family Moraceae native to eastern Australia, from the Wide Bay–Burnett region in the north to the Illawarra in New South Wales, as well as Lord Howe Island. Teviotville is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Teviotville had a population of 114 people. Geography Teviotville is in the Scenic Rim of South East Queensland. History The name ''Teviotville'' is derived from the name of its railway station, which was named by the Queensland Railway Department in 1887, which in turn was named after the major watercourse in the area, Teviot Brook. The brook in turn was named on 6 August 1828 by explorer Allan Cunningham after the River Teviot in Roxburghshire, Scotland. The Fassifern railway line (Queensland's first branch railway line) opened from Ipswich to Harrisville on 10 July 1882. On 12 September 1887 the line was extended to Dugundan with Teviotville being served by Teviotville railway station on Stanfield Road near the junction with Teviotville (). ''The Tree'' is a French-Australian 2010 film co-produced between Australia and France. It was filmed in the small town of Boonah in Queensland, Australia, and follows the lives of Dawn (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and her four children after the unexpected death of her husband Peter (Aden Young). Judy Pascoe is the Australian author of the book ''Our Father Who Art in the Tree''. The book was made into the 2010 feature film '' The Tree''. Biography Born and educated in Brisbane, Australia, Judy spent several years as an acrobat, touring with Circus Oz, before turning to writing and stand-up comedy. She is married to English actor Robert Llewellyn, known for his role as Kryten in '' Red Dwarf'', in which she appeared in the episode " Camille". They have two children and live in Gloucestershire, England. Pascoe was in Circus Oz from 1983 to 1987. Her main act was balancing a chopstick and three eggs on her nose.
