Testimonial Match
A testimonial match or testimonial game, often referred to simply as a testimonial, is a practice in some sports, particularly in association football in the United Kingdom and South America, where a club has a match to honour a player for service to the club. These matches are always non-competitive. History The practice started at a time when player compensation, even those at top professional clubs, was at a level that made it difficult to maintain it as a primary form of employment therefore retirement savings might not exist. These matches are generally well-attended and the gesture by the club can give the honoree income that enables a retirement income base or enable the honoree an opportunity to establish themselves in other employment when they finished playing. Peñarol
Club Atlético Peñarol (; English: ''Peñarol Athletic Club'') —also known as ''Carboneros'', ''Aurinegros,'' and (familiarly) ''Manyas''— is a Uruguayan sports club from Montevideo. Diego Milito
Diego Alberto Milito (born 12 June 1979) is an Argentine former professional footballer who played as a striker. He is currently a sports manager. Milito began his club career in Argentina with Racing Club in 1999, and later moved to Italian side Genoa in 2003. In 2005, he was acquired by Spanish club Real Zaragoza, where he remained for three seasons, before returning to Genoa in 2008. Ángel Clemente Rojas
Ángel Clemente Rojas (born 28 August 1944 in Sarandí), nicknamed ''Rojitas'', is a former Argentine footballer who played most of his career for Boca Juniors. Rojas started his professional career in 1963 with Boca Juniors at the age of 18, he was hit by a major injury early in his career, a collision with an opposition player caused an Anterior cruciate ligament injury in 1963 kept him on the sidelines until August 1964. He returned to help Boca to claim the 1964 league championship. Boca followed it up with another championship in 1965, Rojas made a contribution of 12 goals, the most he ever scored for Boca in a league season. La Bombonera
The Alberto José Armando Stadium is a football stadium located in La Boca, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Widely known as La Bombonera (; en, The chocolate box) due to its shape, with a "flat" stand on one side of the pitch and three steep stands round the rest of the stadium. Estadio Campeón del Siglo is a football stadium located in Bañados de Carrasco, Montevideo, Uruguay, and the home ground of Peñarol, who plays in the First Division. Antonio Pacheco d'Agosti (born 11 April 1976) is a Uruguayan retired footballer who played as a forward. He also held an Italian passport. He started his 21-year professional career with Peñarol, appearing in more than 300 official matches for the club. Additionally, he played abroad in Italy, Spain and Argentina. Carlos Alberto Aguilera Nova (born 21 September 1964) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer who played as a forward.
