Tesco Organisation
Tesco Organisation is a German record label, mail order company and distributor, specialising in industrial, noise, neofolk and ambient music. Tesco has also organised music festivals in the past such as "Heavy Electronics", "Tesco Disco" and "Festival Karlsruhe" History Formation Tesco Organisation started as a mail order company in 1987 releasing music from the Industrial music genre. The organisation had noticed there was a gap between the music they liked and what was being released by other record labels. In 1989 the label released their first Genocide Organ album, titled "Leichenlinie". Shortly after this release, Tesco expanded and created their sub-label, ''Functional Organisation'', primarily for the re-release of unknown cassette recordings.The label's early releases were packaged in special covers such as oversized card folders and sleeves, influenced by the LP covers of the band Zoviet France. Industrial Music
Industrial music is a genre of music that draws on harsh, mechanical, transgressive or provocative sounds and themes. AllMusic defines industrial music as the "most abrasive and aggressive fusion of rock and electronic music" that was "initially a blend of avant-garde electronics experiments (tape music, musique concrète, white noise, synthesizers, sequencers, etc.) and punk provocation". The term was coined in the mid-1970s with the founding of Industrial Records by members of Throbbing Gristle and Monte Cazazza. While the genre name originated with Throbbing Gristle's emergence in the United Kingdom, artists and labels vital to the genre also emerged in the United States and other countries. John Murphy (musician)
John Russell Murphy (11 July 1959 – 11 October 2015) was an Australian drummer, percussionist and multi-instrumental session musician who played in Australian and British post-punk, ambient and industrial music groups. Early life John Russell Murphy was born on 11 July 1959 and raised in Melbourne, Victoria. His father, Russ Murphy, was a jazz drummer who played for many years with the Graeme Bell All Stars, John started learning drums and percussion from the age of 4. For secondary schooling he attended Scotch College, where he played in the school orchestra and in military and Scottish pipe bands. Noise is unwanted sound considered unpleasant, loud or disruptive to hearing. From a physics standpoint, there is no distinction between noise and desired sound, as both are vibrations through a medium, such as air or water. Vromb
Vromb (recording alias for Hugo Girard, real name Mario Girard) is a Canadian electronic music act from Montreal, Quebec. Vromb has been internationally active since 1992. In the independent underground electronic music scene Vromb has a solid reputation. Vromb creates a unique sound consisting of industrial music, minimal techno rhythms, dense music layers and sci-fi sounds. It sometimes also includes the voices of his fictional character, Professeur Heurel Gaudot. The uniqueness of Vromb can be fully experienced during his rare live appearances. In fact, while electronic musicians will usually perform with a laptop, Vromb is performing with analog synthesizers. Most releases by Vromb are made available in refined packagings. Trepaneringsritualen is an industrial and dark ambient project created in 2008 by Swedish artist Thomas Martin Ekelund. He describes his style as "ritual music from Göta Länder" Style and themes Pitchfork defined the project as "heavy ritual ambient" with "an almost psychedelic quality" Orlando Weekly described it as "an immersive experience with few equals in the world of experimental music, a pagan assault on all the senses" The name Trepaneringsritualen is a reference to the surgical intervention in which a hole is drilled or scraped into the human skull known as ''trepanning''. Sonne Hagal is a German experimental and neofolk group. History The band originates from Rathenow in Brandenburg where the core line-up was formed in 1992. The members were part of the local punk rock and experimental pop music scene. The early records from the 1990s were electronic music. A breakthrough came with the 10" album ''Sinnreger'' from 2000, where the band had adopted conventions from the dark wave and neofolk genres. The album includes the German folk song "Herbstlied", a poem by the expressionist poet Else Lasker-Schüler, and a track based on an agitation song by Rosa Luxemburg. The following releases deepened the band's interest in runes, Eddic poetry and nature lyricism, and saw collaborations with Andreas Ritter of Forseti and Kim Larsen of Of the Wand & the Moon. Neil Campbell (musician)
Neil Campbell (born 19 May 1966) is a British musician, notable for his vast catalogue and his many collaborations. In 2005, ''The Wire'' declared that he, Richard Youngs and Matthew Bower had ''"provided the map co-ordinates for much of what passed for a post-punk UK underground during most of the 80s and 90s"''. Pitchfork media have referred to him as ''"one of the most important experimental musicians of the last 20 years"''. Early years Campbell was born in Scotland. He began making music in 1979 using whatever came to hand, having already developed a firm belief in improvisation, and that virtuosity would negatively impact upon the results. Richard Ramirez is an American noise music artist originally from Houston, Texas, recording and performing both as a solo artist and as part of several groups, including Black Leather Jesus, Priest in Shit, An Innocent Young Throat-Cutter, House of the Black Death, Martyr of Sores, Last Rape and the "static noise" solo project Werewolf Jerusalem. He is notable for being one of the earliest American harsh noise artists. Dominick Fernow
Ian Dominick Fernow is an American experimental music, experimental musician, poet and multimedia artist. He is best known for extreme music released under the stage name Prurient, as well as numerous other aliases including Vatican Shadow and Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement. His first releases date back to 1998, the same year in which he founded the record label Hospital Productions. Life Fernow was born into a Roman Catholic household, and was raised in Madison, Wisconsin. He recounts his entrance into public school and his exposure to death metal and tape trading as early sources of musical interest.
