Terry Caulley
Terry J. Caulley (born June 22, 1984) is an American former gridiron football running back. He played college football at University of Connecticut. Despite sitting out the second half of 2003 and the entire 2004 season with a knee injury, he racked up 3,187 rushing yards including 31 touchdowns. In 2003, Caulley had a breakout game against the Buffalo, rushing for 236 yards. Despite having a successful college career, he was not selected in the 2007 NFL Draft. However, he signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 30, 2007, but was released by the Redskins on June 1, 2007. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. The primary roles of a running back are to receive American football plays#Offensive terminology, handoffs from the quarterback to Rush (American football)#Offense, rush the ball, to line up as a receiver to catch the ball, and Blocking (American football), block. There are usually one or two running backs on the field for a given play, depending on the offensive formation. The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a public land-grant research university in Storrs, Connecticut, a village in the town of Mansfield. The primary 4,400-acre (17.8 km2) campus is in Storrs, approximately a half hour's drive from Hartford and 90 minutes from Boston. Redshirt (college Sports)
Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section). Using this mechanism, a student athlete has at most five academic years to use the four years of eligibility, thus becoming what is termed a fifth-year senior.
