Terry Acox
Terrance L. Acox (born 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. Professional career In September 1992, Acox signed with Körfuknattleiksfélag ÍA in the Icelandic 1. deild karla where he became an instant fan favorite due to his 50-inch vertical leap and high flying dunks. On 29 November 1992, he broke the backboard with a dunk during a game against UMFB in Bolungarvík with 11 minutes remaining. With no replacement backboard, the head referee of the game, Leifur Garðarsson, decided to continue the game using the side baskets and forbade both teams to dunk for the rest of the game. In February 1993, Acox was selected to the Icelandic All-Star game where he scored 26 points. He also participated in the dunk contest which he went on to win convincingly. Despite his on-court dominance, ÍA released Acox in March 1993 prior to the seasons end. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Over time, as more specialized roles developed, each of the guards and forwards came to be differentiated, and today each of the five positions are known by unique names, each of which has also been assigned a number: point guard (PG) or 1, the shooting guard (SG) or 2, the small forward (SF) or 3, the power forward (PF) or 4, and the center (C) or 5. Leifur Garðarsson
Leifur Sigfinnur Garðarsson (born 23 February 1968) is an Icelandic former basketball referee, multi-sport athlete and football manager. Basketball Referee career Leifur started refereeing in 1987. During the 1991 Úrvalsdeild karla playoffs, Leifur was hit by a fan and threatened violence following a match between bitter rivals Njarðvík and Keflavík. He retired from refereeing in 2004 to focus on furthering his football managing career but returned in 2013. He was a FIBA referee from 1993 to 2004 and again from 2014 to 2018 when he retired due to age restrictions for international referees. Iceland Men's National Basketball Team
The Iceland men's national basketball team ( is, Íslenska karlalandsliðið í körfubolta) represents Iceland in international basketball tournaments. The team is controlled by the Icelandic Basketball Association. Iceland has qualified for the EuroBasket twice, with the national team making their first ever appearance in 2015. They also participate at smaller European tournaments, such as the Games of the Small States of Europe. Although Iceland has yet to make their debut entrance on to the global stage at the FIBA World Cup. Kristófer Acox
Kristófer Acox (born 13 October 1993) is an Icelandic basketball player for Valur of the Úrvalsdeild karla and a member of the Icelandic national basketball team, with whom he participated in the EuroBasket 2017. He has won the Icelandic championship with KR three times in a row from 2017 to 2019. In 2022, he added his fourth championship, this time with Valur and in 2023, he won the Icelandic Cup for the first time. Bolungarvík
Bolungarvík (, regionally also ) is a small town and the only built-up area in the municipality of Bolungarvíkurkaupstaður in the northwest of Iceland, located on the Westfjords peninsula, approximately from the town of Ísafjörður and from the capital city Reykjavík.
