In 2009, Pakistan suffered 50 terrorist, insurgent and sectarian-related incidents that killed 180 people and injured 300. January 2009 Dera Ismail Khan Bombings
January 2009 Dera Ismail Khan bombings involved two incidents in Dera Ismail Khan. The first occurred on 4 January in front of Polytechnic College, killing ten people, including four policemen and two journalists, and injuring 28. The other occurred when a bomb planted on motorcycle exploded on 26 January near town hall, killing 6 people and injuring 24. Attacks On 4 January at around 18:55, a hand grenade was thrown in front of Polytechnic College, where Frontier Corps had established a checkpoint to maintain security during Muharram. After the grenade's explosion, police and forensics officers arrived at and began examining the site. Two journalists were also on the site when a suicide bomber between 15 and 18 years of age, blew himself up, detonating 10 to 15 kilograms of material. Bashir Bilour
Bashir Ahmad Bilour ( ps, بشیر احمد بلور; 1 August 1943 – 22 December 2012) was a member of the provincial assembly of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Senior Minister for Local Government and Rural Development of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Early life and education Bashir Ahmad Bilour was born on 1 August 1943 in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan. He belongs to a prominent political and social Kakazai family of Peshawar. Bilour had a bachelor's degree in law. He was a member of Peshawar High Court Bar as a lawyer and took part in the active politics from the platform of Awami National Party since 1970. Wagah
Wagah ( ur, ) or Wagha (Shahmukhi pnb, ) is a village and union council (UC 181) located in the Wahga Zone near Lahore City District, Pakistan. The town is famous for the Wagah border ceremony and also serves as a goods transit terminal and a railway station between Pakistan and India. Wahga is situated west of the border and lies on the historic Grand Trunk Road between Lahore and Amritsar in India. The border is located from Lahore and from Amritsar. Manawan Police Training School
At 07:31 on 30 March 2009, the Manawan Police Academy in Lahore, Pakistan, was attacked by an estimated 12 gunmen. The perpetrators were armed with automatic weapons and grenades or rockets and some were dressed as policemen. They took over the main building during a morning parade when 750 unarmed police recruits were present on the compound's parade ground. Police forces arrived 90 minutes later and were able to take back the building by 15:30. Five trainees, two instructors and a passer-by were killed. A suspect was captured alive in a field near the school. Three of the attackers blew themselves up to avoid arrest while three others were taken into custody as they tried to escape in police uniforms. Khyber Agency
Khyber District ( ps, خېبر ولسوالۍ, ur, ) is a district in Peshawar Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Until 2018, it was an agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas; with the merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it became a district. It ranges from the Tirah valley down to Peshawar. Jamrud
Jamrūd (Pashto/ ur, جمرود) or Jam ( ps, جم) is a town in the Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Located in the Valley of Peshawar, on the western fringe of Peshawar city, Jamrud is the doorway to the Khyber Pass which is just to the west of the town. Torkham
Torkham (; ps, , translit=tūrxam) is a major border crossing between the Pakistani city of Torkham and Afghanistan, located along the Grand Trunk Road on the international border between the two countries. It connects Nangarhar province of Afghanistan with Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
