Terrorism, in its broadest sense, is the use of criminal violence to provoke a state of terror or fear, mostly with the intention to achieve political or religious aims. The term is used in this regard primarily to refer to intentional violence during peacetime or in the context of war against non-combatants (mostly civilians and neutral military personnel). The terms "terrorist" and "terrorism" originated during the French Revolution of the late 18th century but became widely used internationally and gained worldwide attention in the 1970s during the Troubles in Northern Ireland, the Basque conflict, and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The increased use of suicide attacks from the 1980s onwards was typified by the 2001 September 11 attacks in the United States. There are various different definitions of terrorism, with no universal agreement about it. Terrorism is a charged term. It is often used with the connotation of something that is "morally wrong". Fifth Dimension Operations
The Fifth Dimension of Warfare complements the four classical dimensions: land, sea, air, and space. It was enunciated in 1995 as information operations. Core U.S. military doctrine This is part of core U.S. Military doctrine, that recognizes at least five dimensions, or 'domains of warfare' for which it is responsible: * Land * Sea * Air * Space * Information The origin of the concept of Fifth Dimension Operations was a criticism that the 'domain approach' reflected "a failure to think beyond the normal "four" dimensions of threats, both domestic and international". Expansion of the concept In more recent times, the concept of Fifth Dimensional Operations, as a concept under military operations, has taken a wider scope than its original information operations background, focusing on "the advanced space-time manipulating capabilities cyberspace offers". This development was begun as early as 1996, in regards to Advanced Battlespace and Cybermaneuver Concepts. Historical ana ...

Interposing Tactics
Interposing Tactics is tactical concept, developed under Terrorist Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures, to explain a tactical action where a small-scale action takes place between two combatants, where one manoeuvres into interposition or interjection within a tactical situation, and disrupts the action or activity, of the opponent. Origin In the game of chess, for example, an interposing move would be one in which a player moves a piece between their king and the opponent's piece which has placed the king in check. * The chess example demonstrates that a key feature of interposing tactics, namely the deployment of forces to block and cover friendly from hostile. * An extension of this idea would involve opposing forces dispelling or scattering much more freely within an operational area to achieve the effect of blocking and covering all friendlies from hostiles. The basis of these actions, is what are called tactical subdivision. Tactical subdivision The concept of tactical su ...

Surgically Implanted Explosive Devices
A body cavity bomb (BCB) is an explosive device hidden inside the body of a person in order to commit a suicide attack. While this concept has been used many times in fiction, it is almost unknown in real life. A body cavity bomb is only known to have been used once, in a failed assassination attempt. A hypothetical further elaboration of the concept in the form of a surgically implanted explosive device has been the subject of speculation, but no such device has ever been found in real life. 2009 attack on Prince Muhammad bin Nayef In August 2009 Abdullah al-Asiri, the younger brother of Ibrahim al-Asiri (Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's chief bomb-maker), tried to assassinate a Saudi prince, Muhammad bin Nayef, with an improvised explosive device that had been inserted into his rectum and anal canal. On 27 August 2009, Asiri queued up at Mohammed bin Nayef's palace in Jeddah as a "well-wisher," a tradition in the kingdom during Ramadan. He exploded the device (perhaps wit ...
