Terri White
Terri White is an American actress and singer. Career The daughter of traveling musicians Bill White and Gertrude Hughes, White has appeared in '' Nunsense 2: The Sequel'' (1994), '' Ain't Misbehavin''' (1978), ''Barnum'' (1980), '' Welcome to the Club'' (1989), and '' Bubbling Brown Sugar''. During a period of homelessness in 2008, White was recognized by NYPD Officer David Taylor in Manhattan's Greenwich Village 6th Precinct, who helped her find a place to live. Shortly thereafter, White was cast in the 2009 City Center Encores! and Broadway revival of '' Finian's Rainbow''. She received the nomination for 2010 Drama Desk Award Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical for ''Finian's Rainbow''. She later assumed the role of Mama Morton in the long-running Broadway revival of ''Chicago'' in April 2010. Follies
''Follies'' is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Goldman. The plot takes place in a crumbling Broadway theater, now scheduled for demolition, previously home to a musical revue (based on the ''Ziegfeld Follies''). The evening follows a reunion of the Weismann Girls who performed during the interwar period. Several of the former showgirls perform their old numbers, often accompanied by the ghosts of their younger selves. The score offers a pastiche of 1920s and 1930s musical styles, evoking a nostalgic tone. The original Broadway production, directed by Harold Prince and Michael Bennett, with choreography by Bennett, opened April 4, 1971. The musical was nominated for 11 Tony Awards and won seven. Marquis Theatre
The Marquis Theatre is a Broadway theater on the third floor of the New York Marriott Marquis hotel in the Theater District of Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Opened in 1986, it is operated by the Nederlander Organization. There are about 1,612 seats in the auditorium, spread across an orchestra level and a balcony. The Marquis was designed by John C. Portman Jr., who designed the Marriott Marquis and included the theater to increase the size of the hotel. The theater's main entrance and box office are at 210 West 46th Street. The box office is at ground level, and there are escalators leading from the ground floor to the auditorium. Due to a lack of space, the wings on each side of the proscenium arch are smaller than mandated by city building codes.
