Terri Mitchell
Terri Mitchell (born June 13, 1967) is an associate head women's basketball coach at the University of Pittsburgh. Previously she was the head women's basketball coach at Marquette University. During her tenure, she guided the Golden Eagles to a 348–215 record in 18 seasons. She is the school's all time winningest women's basketball coach, and has taken her teams to postseason play several times. Her teams earned seven straight postseason appearances between 2002 and 2009, including a WNIT championship in 2007. She is the fourth coach in school history. In her first year, she implemented a transformation, as the team went 21–10, one year after they went 8–20. She has also coached her team to eight 20 win seasons. During the 2006–2007 season, she led the Eagles to a 26–7 record, including Top 25 action for a good portion of the season. Pittsburgh Panthers Women's Basketball
Pittsburgh Panthers women's basketball is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate women's basketball program of the University of Pittsburgh, often referred to as "Pitt", located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Pitt women's basketball team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference and plays their home games in the Petersen Events Center. The university first sponsored women's basketball on the varsity level in 1914 and have appeared in five straight national post-season tournaments between 2006 and 2010. The head coach of the Panthers since 2018 was Lance White. Women's National Invitation Tournament
The Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) is a women's national college basketball tournament with a preseason and postseason version played every year. It is operated in a similar fashion to the men's college National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and NIT Season Tip-Off. Unlike the NIT, the women's tournament is not run by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), but is an independent national championship. Triple Crown Sports, a company based in Fort Collins, Colorado that specializes in the promotion of amateur sporting events, created the WNIT in 1994 as a preseason counterpart to the then-current National Women's Invitational Tournament (NWIT). The 2014 Women's National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 64 NCAA Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2014 Women's NCAA tournament. The annual tournament began on March 19 and ended on April 5. All games were played on the campus sites of participating schools. The Tournament was won by the Rutgers Scarlet Knights who defeated the UTEP Miners, 56–54, in the championship game before a sellout crowd of 12,222 at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. The 2009 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) was a single-elimination tournament of 48 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that did not participate in the 2009 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament. It was won by South Florida. The 41st annual tournament was played from March 18, 2009 to April 4, 2009, entirely on campus sites. The remaining slots were filled by the WNIT Selection Committee. The South Florida Bulls beat the Kansas Jayhawks, 75–71, in the championship game to win the WNIT.
