Fluvial Terrace
Fluvial terraces are elongated terraces that flank the sides of floodplains and fluvial valleys all over the world. They consist of a relatively level strip of land, called a "tread", separated from either an adjacent floodplain, other fluvial terraces, or uplands by distinctly steeper strips of land called "risers". These terraces lie parallel to and above the river channel and its floodplain. The Terrace, Barnes
The Terrace is a street in Barnes in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It forms part of the A3003, and runs west from its junction with Barnes High Street and Lonsdale Road to the east, where it becomes Mortlake High Street. Only one side of the street has houses; they all overlook the River Thames. The Terrace runs along the west bend of the river and is lined with Georgian mansions, most of them dating from the 18th century and some from as early as 1720. Many of the houses are Grade II listed buildings and there have been several notable residents. The street also includes Barnes Railway Bridge, Barnes Bridge station and a Victorian pub, The White Hart, which overlooks the Thames and is a prominent landmark on the course of the Boat Race. East Terrace
__NOTOC__ East Terrace marks the eastern edge of the Adelaide city centre. It is one of the main north–south thoroughfares through the east side of the city. Although the terrace essentially runs north–south between North Terrace and South Terrace, unlike Adelaide's other three terraces, its path is far from a straight line; travelling the entire length of East Terrace requires turning at right angles at most intersections from Pirie Street onwards. These days however, the traffic flow, after a swerve to the east between Grenfell and Pirie Streets, continues southwards over the Pirie intersection into Hutt Street and on down to South Terrace. After crossing South Terrace, East Terrace continues through the parklands as Beaumont Road, but unlike other roads through the parklands it is not a thoroughfare; there is a break in the middle of it. Michael Terrace
Michael Terrace (born Michael Santiago Gutierrez; December 31, 1926 in Spanish Harlem, New York City) is a retired ballroom and Broadway stage dancer, choreographer, actor, dance consultant, and writer. His stage and subsequent dance career spans a total of 60 years, during which he's made innumerable contributions to ballroom dancing. Terrace played Bernardo in ''West Side Story'' with the national company and was picked out of 2,500 ballet dancers to be at the Metropolitan Opera House with the Bolshoi Ballet Company of Russia. Terrace met and married Elita Cleveland and formed the dance team Terrace & Elita. Some of the original "Mambo-niks", Michael and Elita, were regulars in the Palladium Ballroom dance competitions and helped to bring the Mambo craze to mainstream America. Terrace Jamahl Martin (born December 28, 1978) is an American musician, rapper, singer, and record producer. ''The Terrace, 1909'' is a landscape painting by Milly Childers showing the members' terrace of the Palace of Westminster with its view of the River Thames looking towards Lambeth Bridge. It is held by the Parliamentary Art Collection. Painted before women could be elected to the British House of Commons, or sit in the House of Lords, the people on the terrace are all men. Childer's father Hugh Culling Eardley Childers served as Chancellor of the Exchequer and Home Secretary, which may have assisted to secure her the commission for the painting. The bearded man with top hat in the central group is Sir John Benjamin Stone, who later took a photograph of Childers with her painting. Melodic motion is the quality of movement of a melody, including nearness or farness of successive pitches or notes in a melody. This may be described as conjunct or disjunct, stepwise, skipwise or no movement, respectively. See also contrapuntal motion.
