''Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines'' is a 2003 science fiction action film directed by Jonathan Mostow. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nick Stahl, Claire Danes, and Kristanna Loken, it is the third installment in the ''Terminator'' franchise and a sequel to '' Terminator 2: Judgment Day'' (1991). In its plot, the malevolent artificial intelligence Skynet sends a T-X (Loken)—a highly advanced Terminator—back in time to ensure the rise of machines by killing top members of the future human resistance as John Connor's (Stahl) location is unknown. The resistance sends back a reprogrammed T-101 (Schwarzenegger) to protect John and Kate. Jonathan Mostow
Jonathan Mostow (born November 28, 1961) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He has directed films such as ''Breakdown (1997 film), Breakdown'', ''U-571 (film), U-571'', ''Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines'', and ''Surrogates''. Early life Mostow was born in Woodbridge, Connecticut. His father George Daniel Mostow was a mathematician, and his mother is a social worker. He graduated from Harvard University. He also trained at the American Repertory Company and the Lee Strasberg Institute. He grew up in a Conservative Judaism, Conservative Jewish household. Career In 1989, Mostow directed a direct-to-video horror comedy, ''Beverly Hills Bodysnatchers''. He was originally attached to direct ''The Game (1997 film), The Game'' (1997), with Kyle MacLachlan and Bridget Fonda for the lead roles. James Cameron

The Terminator, also known as a Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 or the T-800, is the name of several film Character (arts), characters from the Terminator (franchise), ''Terminator'' franchise portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger and numerous actor stand-ins digitally overlaid with Schwarzenegger's likeness.
