Terence Dudley
Terence Dudley (28 September 1919 – 25 December 1988) was a British television director, producer and screenwriter who worked on many programmes for the BBC. Dudley produced the BBC science fiction series ''Doomwatch'' (1970—72), and directed three of its episodes. He subsequently produced the series '' Survivors'' (1975—1977), also directing one episode, and wrote the script for the season three premiere episode, "Manhunt". His young son, Stephen, had a regular part in ''Doomwatch''. Dudley also directed eight early episodes of '' All Creatures Great and Small'', including the 1983 Christmas special. He began an association with '' Doctor Who'' when he directed '' Meglos'' (1980) for John Nathan-Turner. That same year, he was asked to become producer of ''Blake's 7'' after David Maloney was reassigned before it was known that a fourth season would be made. West Ham
West Ham is an area in East London, located east of Charing Cross in the west of the modern London Borough of Newham. The area, which lies immediately to the north of the River Thames and east of the River Lea, was originally an ancient parish formed to serve parts of the older Manor of Ham, and it later became a County Borough. The district, part of the historic county of Essex, was an administrative unit, with largely consistent boundaries, from the 12th century to 1965, when it merged with neighbouring areas to become the western part of the new London Borough of Newham. Black Orchid (Doctor Who)
''Black Orchid'' is the fifth serial of the 19th season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast on BBC1 on 1 and 2 March 1982. The serial is set in an English estate in 1925. In the serial, the alien time traveller the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) investigates the murder of two servants during a fancy dress party. This story was the first purely historical adventure for the Doctor—featuring no science fiction elements save for the TARDIS and the regular cast—since '' The Highlanders'' (1966). K9 (Doctor Who)
K9, occasionally written K-9, is the name of several fictional robotic canines (dogs, the name being a pun on the pronunciation of "canine") in the long-running British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who'', first appearing in 1977. K9 has also been a central character in three of the series' television spin-offs: the one-off ''K-9 and Company'' (1981), ''The Sarah Jane Adventures'' (2007–2011) and '' K-9'' (2009–2010). Although not originally intended to be a recurring character in the series, K9 was kept in the show following his first appearance because he was expected to be popular with younger audiences. There have been at least four separate K9 units in the series, with the first two being companions of the Fourth Doctor. Elisabeth Sladen
Elisabeth Clara Heath-Sladen (1 February 1946 – 19 April 2011) was an English actress. She became best known as Sarah Jane Smith in the British television series ''Doctor Who'', appearing as a regular cast member from 1973 to 1976, alongside both Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, and reprising the role many times in subsequent decades, both on ''Doctor Who'' and its spin-offs, ''K-9 and Company'' (1981) and ''The Sarah Jane Adventures'' (2007–2011). Sladen was interested in ballet and theatre from childhood, and began to appear on stage in the mid-1960s, although she was more often a stage manager at this time. She moved to London in 1970 and won several television roles, with her acting in the police drama ''Z-Cars'' leading to her being recommended for the role in ''Doctor Who''. After leaving the series, she had other roles on both television and radio before semi-retiring to bring up a family in the mid-1980s. K-9 And Company
''K-9 and Company'' is a one-episode television pilot, for a proposed 1981 television spin-off of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. It features former series regulars Sarah Jane Smith, an investigative journalist played by Elisabeth Sladen, and K9, a robotic dog voiced by John Leeson. Both characters had been companions of the Fourth Doctor, but they had not appeared together before. The single episode, "A Girl's Best Friend", was broadcast by BBC1 as a Christmas special on 28 December 1981, but was not taken up for a continuing series. "A Girl's Best Friend" is set in the fictional English village of Moreton Harwood in 1981. In the programme, Sarah and K9 investigate the disappearance of Brendan Richards (Ian Sears), the ward of Sarah's Aunt Lavinia (Mary Wimbush), in the wake of increasing reports of witchcraft.
