Teofil Ioncu
Teofil Ioncu (22 July 1885, in Olișcani – 16 March 1954, in Iași) was a Bessarabian and Romanian politician, member of Sfatul Țării.Alexandru Chiriac, ''Mic dicționar al membrilor Sfatului Țării din Chișinău, (21 noiembrie 1917 — 27 noiembrie 1918)'', în „Patrimoniu. Revistă de cultură istorică”, Chișinău, nr.4/1991, p. 75. Biography Teofil Ioncu studied at the Moscow Higher Institute and the Higher Business School of the University of Leipzig. From 1913-1914 he was one of the permanent contributors to the magazine ''Cuvânt Moldovenesc''. Political activity On 3 April 1917 he took part in the establishment of the National Moldavian Party. On 20 May 1917 he was elected president of the first Student Congress, which has as topic of discussion the election of the National Moldavian Party. In the summer of that year he was sent as a voting delegate by NMP from Chișinău near the Verkhovna Rada to support the interests of Romanians in Bessarabia. He ... Sfatul Țării
''Sfatul Țării'' ("Council of the Country"; ) was a council that united political, public, cultural, and professional organizations in the greater part of the territory of the Governorate of Bessarabia in the disintegrating Russian Empire, which was transformed into a Legislative body and proclaimed the Moldavian Democratic Republic as part of the Russian Federative Republic in December 1917, and then union with Romania in . Order Of The Star Of Romania
The Order of the Star of Romania (Romanian: ''Ordinul Steaua României'') is Romania's highest civil Order and second highest State decoration after the defunct Order of Michael the Brave. It is awarded by the President of Romania. It has five ranks, from lowest to the highest: Officer, Commander, Grand Officer, Grand Cross, and Grand Cross with Collar. History In 1863, Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the Domnitor of the United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia, asked the Romanian representative to Paris to contact the then well-known jewellery house Krétly, to manufacture a state decoration. Krétly presented a model, which was immediately accepted by the domnitor, and based on his agreement, 1,000 pieces of the order were made. It was decided that the order would have five ranks: Knight (''Cavaler''), Officer (''Ofițer''), Commander (''Comandor''), Grand Officer (''Mare Ofițer''), and Grand Cross (''Mare Cruce'').
