Froilan Tenorio
Froilan Cruz "Lang" Tenorio (September 9, 1939 – May 4, 2020) was a Northern Mariana Islander politician who was the fourth governor of the Northern Mariana Islands. Elected in 1993, he served one term from January 10, 1994 to January 12, 1998. During his governorship and most of his political career, Tenorio was a member of the Democratic Party of the Northern Mariana Islands, which was not then affiliated with the American Democratic Party. However, he later switched his affiliation to the Covenant Party. As of 2021, he is the last Democrat to serve as governor of the territory. Background Education Tenorio graduated from the Territorial College of Guam in 1962 with an associate's degree before earning a bachelor's degree in civil engineering at Marquette University in 1967. Joshua "Josh" Franquez Tenorio is an American politician and businessman currently serving as the 10th Lieutenant Governor of Guam since January 7, 2019. He is the first openly gay lieutenant governor elected in the United States and is a member of the Democratic Party. Early life Tenorio is the son of the late Jesus Atoigue Tenorio, a retired telephone man, and Therese Franquez Tenorio, a retired school teacher. His father was killed by a drunk driver in 1994. He was elected to the Guam Youth Congress in 1989 at the age of 15 and served for three terms, culminating in his election as Speaker of the Guam Youth Congress in 1991. Nicolas Tenorio Cerero (28 December 1863 – 1 December 1930) was a Spanish writer, historian, politician and judge. Early life Nicolas was born in Villalba del Alcor, Spain. Orphaned at age 5, Cerero moved to Seville. He studied at the University of Seville between 1881 and 1886, where he pursued a legal career. After graduating he worked as a journalist for several years. Career He later became a judge; his first assignment in 1897 was in Havana, Cuba (a Spanish colony). His term as a judge was interrupted by the Spanish–American War that led to Cuban independence. Upon returning to Spain his assignment as a judge ended and he pursued a degree in history. His studies included research of important archives in Seville, including the General Archive of the Indies. His law practice and journalistic pursuits eventually led back to additional service as a judge. Otilino George Tenorio Bastidas (1 February 1980 – 7 May 2005) was an Ecuadorian footballer who played as a forward. Club career Tenorio was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. His nickname was 'Spiderman', because when he scored a goal in a football match he would cover his head with a Spider-Man mask as he celebrated. He joined Emelec of Guayaquil when he was eleven, and went on to play for the club at a professional level.
