Trevor Thomas (born ) is the world's only professional long-distance blind hiker and has hiked over solo. He was the first blind person to complete the Appalachian Trail on an unassisted solo hike, in 2008. He hikes with a guide dog, and uses sophisticated digital technology, emailing his route to his phone to convert to audible sections, using echo location to identify obstacles, and having a satellite beacon which updates his Facebook page with his location every 10 minutes: if he is in the wrong place or not making the expected progress his expedition coordinator is alerted. He supports himself through speaking, writing, blogging and sponsorship, and has set up the Team FarSight Foundation to support young blind people in outdoor activities. Francis Tennille
Francis Tennille (1747May 21, 1819), was a Lieutenant Colonel during the American Revolutionary War who fought for the American Continental Army. Born in Virginia, Tennille moved to Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia before the war broke out in 1775. He joined the 2nd Georgia of the Continental Line and on June 20, 1777 became Lieutenant Colonel and served to the close of war. After the war, Lieutenant Tennille received from the general government a commission as Captain by brevet (military), brevet, in recognition of his services in the Continental Army. This commission was in possession of his son Colonel Francis T. Tennille until after the American Civil War, Civil War when a member of the family, hoping to establish a claim, sent it with a number of other commissions of Colonel Francis T. Toni Tennille
Cathryn Antoinette "Toni" Tennille (born May 8, 1940) is an American singer-songwriter and keyboardist, best known as one-half of the 1970s duo Captain & Tennille with her former husband Daryl Dragon; their signature song is "Love Will Keep Us Together". Tennille also did musical work independently of Dragon, including solo albums and session work. Early life Tennille was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, and has three younger sisters. Her father Frank owned a furniture store and also served in the Alabama Legislature from 1951 to 1954. He had been a singer with Bob Crosby's Bob-Cats. For five years, her mother, also named Cathryn (née Wright), hosted a daily television show in Montgomery.
