State Route 50 (SR 50) is a west–to–east highway in Middle Tennessee. The road begins near Only and ends in Altamont. The current length is . Route description Hickman County SR 50 begins as a 2-lane secondary highway in Hickman County at exit 148 on I-40 near Only as a continuation of Duck River Road. SR 50 travels southeast and crosses a bridge over the Duck River to enter Only and have an intersection with Dyer Road, which follows SR 50's former alignment through the community. SR 50 then passes through wooded areas as it bypasses Only to the south before having an intersection with SR 229, which provides access to the Turney Center Industrial Complex. SR 50 continues east to cross the Duck River again before paralleling it and having an intersection with SR 438. State Route 247 (SR 247) is a long east-west state highway in Maury and Williamson counties of Middle Tennessee. Route description SR 247 begins in Maury County at an intersection with SR 50 in Williamsport. It heads east through rural farmland and slightly hilly terrain, running parallel to the Duck River, to Santa Fe, where it has a short concurrency with SR 7. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a national parkway in the southeastern United States that commemorates the historic Natchez Trace and preserves sections of that original trail. State Route 230 (SR 230) is a secondary state highway located in Humphreys County and Hickman County in Middle Tennessee. It consists largely of former county highways that were designated as a state route in order to ensure adequate ongoing maintenance funding. Route description SR 230 runs from its western terminus at SR 13 in Humphreys County south of Waverly roughly southeast to the rural community of Bold Spring. This portion of the highway is known as Bold Spring Road. From Bold Spring, the highway runs roughly south until it enters Hickman County; it crosses I-40 shortly thereafter. State Route 100 (SR 100) is a west–east state highway in both West Tennessee and Middle Tennessee that connects Whiteville with Nashville. It is long. Route description Hardeman County SR 100 begins as a primary highway in West Tennessee in Hardeman County at an intersection with US 64/SR 15 in Whiteville. Then SR 100 leaves Whiteville heading east but slightly northward before crossing the Hatchie River. SR 100 then has an intersection with SR 138 just north of Toone. State Route 48 (SR 48) is a long north–south state highway in Middle Tennessee. It traverses six counties, and it is long. Route description Wayne, Perry, and Lewis Counties SR 48 begins as a primary state route in far northern Wayne County at a junction with SR 13. Then it travels through the southeastern corner of Perry County before entering Lewis County to intersect SR 20, and then U.S. Route 412 (US 412) and SR 99 in Hohenwald. Centerville is a town in Hickman County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 3,489 as of the 2020 Census. It is the county seat and the only incorporated town in Hickman County. It is best known for being the hometown of American comedian Minnie Pearl. Geography Centerville sits at the center of Hickman County in the valley of the Duck River, a west-flowing tributary of the Tennessee River. Grinder's Switch, Tennessee
Grinder's Switch is a location just outside Centerville, Tennessee, which consists of little more than the railroad switch for which it is named. Significance to Minnie Pearl Grinder's Switch was also the fictional hometown of the comic character Minnie Pearl, created and portrayed at the Grand Ole Opry by comedian Sarah Ophelia Colley Cannon, who grew up in the nearby Town of Centerville, Tennessee. Sarah Ophelia Colley Cannon's father was a lumberman who shipped logs from the Grinders depot on the Centerville branch of the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway. There was a team track at the depot, necessitating the installation of a switch. Long after the depot disappeared, the team track and its switch remained, thus the name "Grinder's Switch". State Route 438 (SR 438) is a long east-west state highway in extreme western Middle Tennessee. Mousetail Landing State Park is located along SR 438 near its western end. Route description SR 438 begins in Perry County at an intersection with US 412/ SR 100 ( SR 20) just across the Tennessee River from Perryville.
