Tennessee State Route 329
State Route 329 (SR 329), also known as Deer Lodge Highway, is a north–south state highway in Morgan County, Tennessee. It is the primary road in and out of the community of Deer Lodge. Route description SR 329 begins at a Y-intersection with SR 62. It winds it way north to enter the community of Deer Lodge and makes sharp turn to the east at an intersection with Irving Street and Old Deer Lodge Pike in the center of town. The highway then winds its way east then northeast through a mix of farmland and wooded areas before entering Sunbright and coming to an end at an intersection with US 27/ SR 29. Deer Lodge, Tennessee
Deer Lodge is an unincorporated community in Morgan County, Tennessee, United States. It is located along Tennessee State Route 329 west-southwest of Sunbright. Deer Lodge has a post office with ZIP code 37726, which opened on April 16, 1886. The community was established as a health resort in the 1880s by Rugby colonist Abner Ross. History Deer Lodge was originally situated around a tract of land acquired by the Davidson family in the early 1800s. In 1845, James Davidson built a grist mill and saw mill on the land. In 1876, Peter Fox purchased the land and attempted to establish a sheep ranch, but was unsuccessful. In 1884, Fox sold the land to Abner Ross, a former Rugby colonist. Ross, who had been the proprietor of Rugby's Tabard Inn, decided to convert the tract into a mountain resort. He constructed a Victorian-style house, Walnut Knoll, which was soon followed by a string of similarly-styled houses built by new residents. He also constructed a printer works, whic ... Sunbright, Tennessee
Sunbright is a city in Morgan County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 552 at the 2010 census. History The Sunbright area was first settled in the early 19th century. It was originally known as "Pine Top", but was renamed "Stapleton" after the Staples family set up the town's first post office in the mid-19th century. When the railroad was constructed through the area in 1879, the Stapleton depot was named "Sunbright," and the name was eventually applied to the entire town. Morgan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 21,035. Its county seat is Wartburg. Morgan County is part of the Knoxville, TN Combined Statistical Area. History Morgan County was formed in 1817 from portions of Anderson and Roane counties. It was named in honor of Daniel Morgan (1736–1802), an American Revolutionary War officer who commanded the troops that defeated the British at the Battle of Cowpens, and who later served as a U.S. congressman from Virginia. The county had been part of lands relinquished by the Cherokee with the signing of the Third Treaty of Tellico in 1805. State Route 62 (SR 62) is a west-to-east highway in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is designated as a primary route except for the short segment between SR 169 and its eastern terminus, which is secondary. State Route 62 begins in Putnam County at State Route 84; it ends in Knox County at U.S. Route 441/ State Route 33. Cumberland Plateau
The Cumberland Plateau is the southern part of the Appalachian Plateau in the Appalachian Mountains of the United States.
