State Route 179 (SR 179) is a 43.4 mile long east-west state highway in West Tennessee, connecting Covington with Whiteville via Stanton and Dancyville. Route description SR 179 begins in Tipton County just east of Covington at an intersection with SR 54. It heads southeast through rural areas, where it has an intersection with SR 14, before crossing into Haywood County. The highway then passes through Stanton, where it has an intersection with US 70/US 79/ SR 1, as it runs along Covington Street, W Main Street, and S Main Street. SR 179 leaves Stanton and continues east along Stanton Koko Road through rural areas before turning south along Dancyville Road to have an interchange with I-40 (Exit 47). It then enters Dancyville, where it comes to an intersection and becomes concurrent with SR 76. State Route 15 (SR 15) is a west–east route from Memphis to Monteagle. For much of its route it has an unsigned concurrency with U.S. Route 64. SR 15 does travel through the southern part of all 3 Grand Divisions of the state: West Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, and East Tennessee. Route description Shelby County SR 15 begins as a secondary highway in Shelby County in Northern Memphis at an interchange with SR 14 (Austin Peay Highway). State Route 54 (SR 54) is a west–east rural highway in West Tennessee, which runs from Covington to just north of Paris. Route description Covington to Alamo SR 54 begins in downtown Covington in Tipton County at an intersection with US 51/ SR 3. It then goes to a junction with SR 384. Shortly afterwards, it has a junction with SR 179. SR 54 then exits Covington and continues to the east, passing through Glenn and having an intersection with SR 14, which is its northern terminus. West Tennessee is one of the three Grand Divisions (Tennessee), Grand Divisions of the U.S. state of Tennessee that roughly comprises the western quarter of the state.
