Tennent, New Jersey
Tennent is an unincorporated community located within Manalapan Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. Considered to be the historic center of Manalapan Township, Tennent is home to the Old Tennent Church and Old Tennent Cemetery. William Tennent (the church and area's namesake) served as pastor at the church for over 40 years. Tennent was also the center of a historic community of African Americans dating back to the early nineteenth century. The location of Tennent is located at the modern intersection of County Route 522 and Tennent Road ( CR 3) and is near the limits of Monmouth Battlefield State Park. Old Tennent Cemetery
The Old Tennent Cemetery is a non-denominational community cemetery adjacent to the Old Tennent Church in Manalapan, New Jersey, with which it was affiliated until 1910. The cemetery was established in 1731, when the congregation moved from its location in nearby Wickatunk, New Jersey. The cemetery replaced what is known as the Old Scots Burying Ground. Monmouth Battlefield State Park
Monmouth Battlefield State Park is a New Jersey state park located on the border of Manalapan and Freehold Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. This park preserves the historical battlefield on which the American Revolutionary War's Battle of Monmouth (1778) was waged. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in military history. With Appearance and information Monmouth Battlefield State Park preserves a rural eighteenth-century landscape of orchards, fields, woods and wetlands, encompassing miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding, space for picnic areas, and a restored Revolutionary War farmhouse called the Craig House. County Route 522 (CR 522) is a county highway in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The highway extends from Route 27 in South Brunswick Township to Main Street ( CR 537) in Freehold Borough. Route description CR 522 begins at an intersection with Route 27 on the border of South Brunswick, Middlesex County and Franklin Township, Somerset County. Unsigned, it travels along the divided Promenade Boulevard where it provides access to numerous condominium developments. It crosses U.S. Route 1 (US 1) then passes through forested areas near a few residential subdivisions, turning southeast and passing over Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. Following the bridge, the route enters residential areas and intersects CR 681 and CR 697 before coming to an intersection with US 130.
