''Tengo fe en ti'' (English: I Believe in You) is a 1940 American Spanish language drama film. It was released on July 7, 1940. It was the only production of Victoria Films, which was run by Melville Shauer, who also co-produced the film and was the husband of the film's star, Rosita Moreno. Directed by John Reinhardt, the film also stars José Crespo and Romualdo Tirado. John Reinhardt (1901–1953) was an Austrian actor, screenwriter, and film director. Paul Gerard Smith
Paul Gerard Smith (September 14, 1894 – April 4, 1968) was an American screenwriter. He wrote for 90 films between 1926 and 1955. Biography Born in 1894, Smith started writing musical revues at the age of ten. He joined the Marines for World War I and while still in Germany wrote and directed the Sixth Marine Revue in the Rhine Occupation Area. He arrived back in the States in 1919 and started writing vaudeville acts. He became so successful that he was one of the few writers to be credited on the playbill. He scripted the Ziegfeld Follies of 1924, 1925, and 1926 and was also one of the writers of ''Funny Face''. Rosita Moreno (born Gabriela Victoria Viñolas; March 18, 1907 – April 25, 1993) was a Spanish film actress who worked in cinema in Hollywood, Argentina, Mexico, and in her native Spain. Biography Born in Madrid, Spain, Moreno was the daughter of Spanish character actor Francisco Moreno, who also developed a Hollywood career. As a child she devoted herself to acting in revue and zarzuela genres. Moreno appeared in more than 30 films in a career that spanned more than 20 years, often travelling through several countries in quick succession. José Crespo (actor)
José Crespo (1900–1997) was a Spanish film actor. During the late 1920s and 1930s he worked in Hollywood, often as a leading man in Spanish-language versions of studio hits. Crespo was thought to resemble John Gilbert by MGM bosses, and was given roles performed by the American in the English versions. The two men became friends.Jarvinen p.49 Once the fashion for making separate Spanish versions was brought to an end by the rise of dubbing, Crespo moved to Mexico to work. Romualdo Tirado Pozo, aka Romualdo Tirado Pozo, (September 3, 1880 – October 17, 1963) was a stage actor and theatre impresario with a prolific career in Spanish language films produced in Hollywood during the advent of film talkies. Early life Romualdo Tirado was born in Quintanar de la Orden (Spain) on September 3, 1880. Orphaned from an early age, Romualdo began working as a child entertainer for the Juan Bosch Compañía Infantil, touring Spain and Latin America. Arthur Martinelli (April 29, 1881 — September 7, 1967) was an American cinematographer whose career spanned from the silent era through the golden age of American movies. During that time he shot over 100 films. A pioneer in the industry, he was the cinematographer to film the first movie to star Ethel and John Barrymore. RKO Radio Pictures Inc., commonly known as RKO Pictures or simply RKO, was an American film production and distribution company, one of the "Big Five" film studios of Hollywood's Golden Age.
