Ten Years And Running
''Ten Years and Running'' is a compilation album by American punk rock band MxPx. Released on Tooth and Nail Records, the album consists of nineteen songs spanning MxPx's career, mostly from Tooth and Nail releases but including a song each from the A&M releases '' Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo'', '' The Ever Passing Moment'', '' The Broken Bones'', and Fat Wreck Chords' '' The Renaissance EP''. The band self-produced a re-recording of "Punk Rawk Show" and two new songs, "My Mistake" and "Running Away," for the compilation. A music video was made for "My Mistake." Tim Palmer either mixed or remixed all of the songs except "My Life Story" and "The Broken Bones." The album is not a greatest hits album, as it omits MxPx' more well-known singles "Responsibility" and "I'm OK, You're OK," but is considered a retrospective of the first ten years of the band. ''Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo'' is the fourth studio album released by American punk rock band MxPx in 1998. The album title was taken from a letter that a fan had written to the band, complaining that the band was changing and was "slowly going the way of the buffalo". Background Due to the success of MxPx's "Chick Magnet", from their previous album, '' Life in General'', the band signed a multi-album contract with A&M.Reece 1998, p. 18 A&M had previously signed a deal with Tooth & Nail to co-market ''Life in General''. This market deal was "cobbled together in order to sign the band", according to A&M chairman Al Cafaro. Composition and recording Moving away from the sound of ''Life in General'', the band "dirtied things up a little", according to vocalist and bassist Mike Herrera, for ''Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo''. Michael Arthur Herrera is an American singer, songwriter and musician best known as the lead vocalist, bassist and songwriter for the punk rock band MxPx. He is also the frontman of Tumbledown and the bassist of Goldfinger. Early life Herrera was born in Bremerton, Washington to Art and Michele Herrera and is of Mexican and English / Welsh descent. He is the middle of three children and has an older sister and a younger sister. His parents live in Bremerton in the house he grew up in. He grew up playing guitar, inspired by listening to country and punk rock music. Herrera started MxPx while he was in high school with friends Andy Husted and Yuri Ruley with the band's first performance in his back yard.
