Template Processor
A template processor (also known as a template engine or template parser) is software designed to combine templates with a data model to produce result documents. The language that the templates are written in is known as a template language or templating language. For purposes of this article, a result document is any kind of formatted output, including documents, web pages, or source code (in source code generation), either in whole or in fragments. A template engine is ordinarily included as a part of a web template system or application framework, and may be used also as a preprocessor or filter. Typical features Template engines typically include features common to most high-level programming languages, with an emphasis on features for processing plain text. Such features include: *variables and functions *text replacement *file inclusion (or transclusion) *conditional evaluation and loops Embedded template engines While template processors are typically a separate ...

Web Template System
A web template system in web publishing lets web designers and developers work with ''web templates'' to automatically generate custom web pages, such as the results from a search. This reuses static web page elements while defining dynamic elements based on web request parameters. Web templates support static content, providing basic structure and appearance. Developers can implement templates from content management systems, web application frameworks, and HTML editors. Overview A ''web template system'' is composed of the following: * A template engine: the primary processing element of the system; * '' Content resource'': any of various kinds of input data streams, such as from a relational database, XML files, LDAP directory, and other kinds of local or networked data; * '' Template resource'': ''web template''s specified according to a template language; The template and content resources are processed and combined by the template engine to mass-produce web docume ...

Mail Merge
Mail merge consists of combining mail and letters and pre-addressed envelopes or mailing labels for mass mailings from a form letter. This feature is usually employed in a word processing document which contains fixed text (which is the same in each output document) and variables (which act as placeholders that are replaced by text from the data source word to word). Some word processors can insert content from a database, spreadsheet, or table into text documents. It is a powerful tool for writing a personalized letter or e-mail to many people at the same time. It imports data from another source such as a spreadsheet and then uses that to replace placeholders throughout the message with the relevant information for each individual that is being messaged. History Mail merge dates back to early word processors on personal computers, circa 1980.see p. 2-2; MailMerge not a new feature, and this is 2nd Ed, (C) 1982 WordStar was perhaps the earliest to provide this, originally via a ...

Preprocessor
In computer science, a preprocessor (or precompiler) is a program that processes its input data to produce output that is used as input in another program. The output is said to be a preprocessed form of the input data, which is often used by some subsequent programs like compilers. The amount and kind of processing done depends on the nature of the preprocessor; some preprocessors are only capable of performing relatively simple textual substitutions and macro expansions, while others have the power of full-fledged programming languages. A common example from computer programming is the processing performed on source code before the next step of compilation. In some computer languages (e.g., C and PL/I) there is a phase of translation known as ''preprocessing''. It can also include macro processing, file inclusion and language extensions. Lexical preprocessors Lexical preprocessors are the lowest-level of preprocessors as they only require lexical analysis, that is, they oper ...
