Tell Schirnding Berna (July 24, 1891 – April 5, 1975) was an American middle-distance and long-distance runner. His 1912 American record at two miles stood for twenty years. He competed for the United States in the 1912 Summer Olympics held in Stockholm, Sweden in the 3000 metre team where he won the gold medal with his team mates Norman Taber and George Bonhag. He also finished fifth in the individual 5000 meters. Berna graduated from Cornell University in 1912 and was a member of the Sphinx Head Society The Sphinx Head Society is the oldest senior honor society at Cornell University. William "Tell" Taylor (aka Tellie ''né'' Tell Roberts;(October 28, 1876 – November 23, 1937). Tell was born October 28, 1876 to Clarinda Jane Roberts (1854-1930) and John Asbury Taylor (1853-1928), on a farm near the Village of Vanlue, Amanda Township, Hancock County, Ohio. He was an American traveling vaudeville performer, tenor vocalist, playwright, music publisher, composer, and lyricist who had written over 200 popular songs. His biggest hit was "Down by the Old Mill Stream" from 1910, one of the most commercially successful Tin Pan Alley publications of the era. The song was published by Tell Taylor, Inc., which he had co-founded in 1907. Taylor performed vaudeville theaters and founded a Chicago music publishing house bearing his name. Alma Tell (March 27, 1898 – December 29, 1937) was an American stage and motion picture actress whose career in cinema began in 1915 and lasted into the sound films of the early 1930s. Early years Tell was born in New York City, the younger sister of stage and film actress Olive Tell. She attended schools in London and Paris and, with her sister, Olive, graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1915. Career Tell began her career as an actress in Syracuse, working for 12 weeks in stock theater. She acted in Boston and headed a stock company in Newark. She made her screen debut in the Edward José-directed drama ''Simon, the Jester'', released in September 1915. Christian Tell (January 12, 1808 - February 4/16, 1884) was a Transylvanian-born Wallachian and Romanian general and politician. Life and activity He was born in Brașov on January 12, 1808. He studied at the Saint Sava National College in Bucharest, where he had Gheorghe Lazăr and Ion Heliade Rădulescu as teachers. He was influenced by Ion Heliade Rădulescu, sharing his moderate approach, regarding the national affirmation of Romanians. Christian Tell was enrolled in the military forces of the Ottoman Empire, fighting in the Russo-Turkish War (1828–29), where he received the rank of captain. Christine Tell is a Canadian politician. She was elected to represent the electoral district of Regina Wascana Plains in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan in the 2007 election. She is a member of the Saskatchewan Party. Tell was born and raised in Regina, graduating from Miller Comprehensive High School and then receiving a psychiatric nursing diploma from Wascana Institute (SIAST). After a short time working as a psychiatric nurse, she joined the Saskatoon Police Service and graduated from the Saskatchewan Police College. Marvell Tell III (born August 2, 1996) is an American football cornerback for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at USC, and played high school football at Crespi Carmelite High School. Olive Tell (September 27, 1894 – June 8, 1951) was a stage and screen actress from New York City. Biography Tell was educated in several cities in Europe. She and her younger actress sister Alma graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1915. The sisters began appearing in Broadway theaters around 1918. William John Tell is a rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist for the piano-rock band Something Corporate. After leaving the band in 2004 for a solo career, William Tell was signed as a New Door Records solo artist. His first solo record, '' You Can Hold Me Down,'' was released on March 13, 2007. Tell earned a J.D. degree from USC Gould School of Law in 2014.
