Teklewold Atnafu
Teklewold Atnafu (; born on 26 October 1963) is an Ethiopian politician who governed National Bank of Ethiopia for nearly two decades. Teklewold is serving as a board member for the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia since 2020. Early life Teklewold was born in Areka, Wolayita, Ethiopia. He completed his primary and secondary school in his hometown and Sodo respectively. He attended Addis Abeba University and studied his first and second degree in Statistics. Career Teklewold governed the National Bank of Ethiopia since 2000s to 18 June 2018. He is believed to be the longest serving governor of the bank. National Bank Of Ethiopia
The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) is the central bank of Ethiopia. Its headquarters are in the capital city of Addis Ababa. Mamo Mihretu is the current governor of the bank. The bank is active in promoting financial inclusion policy and is a member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI). History On 15 February 1906, marked the beginning of banking in Ethiopia when the first Bank of Abyssinia was inaugurated by Emperor Menelik II. It was a private bank whose shares were sold in Addis Ababa, New York, Paris, London, and Vienna. The bank opened numerous branches including ones in Harar (1906), Dire Dawa (1908), Gore (1912), and Dese (1920). The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) is the largest commercial bank in Ethiopia. As of June 2021, it had about 1.1 trillion birr in assets and held approximately 67% of deposits and about 53% of all bank loans in the country. Areka
Areka ( Ge'ez: አረካ) is city in southern Ethiopia. Located in some 300 kilometres southwest of the capital, Addis Ababa. This town has a latitude and longitude of and an elevation of 1774 meters above sea level. It is the administrative center of Boloso Sore woreda. Areka is served by a sub-office of the Ethiopian postal service. Areka was founded in 1959, and a primary school opened in the town in 1962. Ethiopian
Ethiopians are the native inhabitants of Ethiopia, as well as the global diaspora of Ethiopia. Ethiopians constitute several component ethnic groups, many of which are closely related to ethnic groups in neighboring Eritrea and other parts of the Horn of Africa. Wolayita Zone
Wolayita or Wolaita is an administrative zone in Ethiopia. It is named for the Welayta people, whose homeland is in the zone. Wolayita is bordered on the south by Gamo Gofa, on the west by the Omo River which separates it from Dawro, on the northwest by Kembata Tembaro, on the north by Hadiya, on the northeast by the Oromia Region, on the east by the Bilate River which separates it from Sidama Region, and on the south east by the Lake Abaya which separates it from Oromia Region. Sodo ( am, ሶዶ) or Wolaita Sodo ( am, ወላይታ ሶዶ) or ( Wolaytatto: ''Wolayta Sodo Ambbaa'') is a city in south-central Ethiopia. The administrative center of the Wolaita Zone.
