Esaias Tegnér
Esaias Tegnér (; – ) was a Swedish writer, professor of the Greek language, and bishop. He was during the 19th century regarded as the father of modern poetry in Sweden, mainly through the national romantic epic ''Frithjof's Saga''. He has been called Sweden's first modern man. Much is known about him, and he also wrote openly about himself. Early life His father was a pastor, and his grandparents on both sides were peasants. His father, whose name had been Esaias Lucasson, took the surname of Tegnérus—altered by his fifth son, the poet, to Tegnér—from the village of Tegnaby in the province of Småland, where he was born. In 1792 Tegnérus died. In 1799 Esaias Tegnér, hitherto educated in the country, entered Lund University, where he graduated in philosophy in 1802, and continued as tutor until 1810, when he was elected Greek lecturer. Alice Tegnér
Alice Charlotta Tegnér (; 12 March 1864 – 26 May 1943; Sandström) was a Swedish music teacher, poet and composer. She is the foremost composer of Swedish children's songs during the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. Background Born Alice Charlotta Sandström in Karlshamn, Sweden, she was the daughter of Eduard Sandström (1829–1879), a ship captain. She was very musical and began taking piano lessons early. She attended seminars in Stockholm (''Högre lärarinneseminariet'') and trained as a teacher. After graduation, she served as governess. Alice Tegnér was a teacher at Djursholms samskola and cantor in Djursholms chapel where Natanael Beskow was a preacher. In 1885, she married Jakob Tegnér (1851–1926), a lawyer, and later secretary of the Swedish Publishers' Association and editor of ''Svenska Bokhandelstidningen''. Christer Mathias Tegnér (born 1979) is a Swedish politician, accountant and member of the Riksdag, the national legislature. A member of the Social Democratic Party, he has represented Stockholm County since September 2018. He had previously been a substitute member of the Riksdag for Ibrahim Baylan twice: October 2014 to October 2015; and May 2016 to September 2018. Tegnér is the son of Christer Tegnér and finance assistant Karin Tegnér (née Marianne Byrhammar). He was educated in Tyresö. Hans Christian Harald Tegner, known as Hans Tegner (30 November 1853 – 2 April 1932), was a Danish artist and illustrator. He is primarily known for his illustrations of literary works by Hans Christian Andersen and Ludvig Holberg and for his work for the Bing & Grøndahl porcelain factory. Early life and education Son of lithographer Isac Wilhelm Tegner, Hans studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1869 to 1878. Rudolph Tegner
Rudolph Tegner (12 July 1873 – 5 June 1950) was a Danish sculptor linked to the Symbolist movement. In the early 20th century his work caused considerable controversy in Denmark. A large number of his works are on display in the Rudolph Tegner Museum north of Copenhagen. Biography Tegner was born in Copenhagen. He was the son of politician and businessman Jørgen Henry August Tegner and his wife Signe Elisabeth Puggaard. He was trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He travelled to Greece and to Italy as a young man, where he was particularly impressed by Michelangelo's sculptures in the Medici Chapel. His first major work, ''A Faun'' (1891) was installed at Charlottenburg Palace. From 1890 to 1893 he collaborated with the Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland, and then moved to Paris, where he resided until 1897.
