Teddy Garcia
Alfonso Teddy Garcia (born June 4, 1964) is a former professional American football player who was a placekicker in the National Football League (NFL) and the World League of American Football (WLAF). Career Garcia played college football at Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana at Monroe), where he was a member of the team that won the 1987 NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship Game. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 1988 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. Between 1988 and 1992, Garcia played for the New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Houston Oilers of the NFL, and the San Antonio Riders and Barcelona Dragons of the WLAF. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. George Blanda, Lou Groza, Frank Gifford and Paul Hornung are prominent examples of players who were stars at other positions as well as being known for their kicking abilities. The University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) is a public university in Monroe, Louisiana. It is part of the University of Louisiana System. History ULM opened in 1931 as Ouachita Parish Junior College. Three years later it became the Northeast Center of Louisiana State University. In 1936 and 1937, its dean was Stephen A. Caldwell.
