Arthur Tedder, 1st Baron Tedder
Marshal of the Royal Air Force Arthur William Tedder, 1st Baron Tedder, (11 July 1890 – 3 June 1967) was a senior Royal Air Force commander. He was a pilot and squadron commander in the Royal Flying Corps in the First World War and he went on to serve as a senior officer in the Royal Air Force during the inter-war years when he served in Turkey, Great Britain and the Far East. During the Second World War, as Air Officer Commanding RAF Middle East Command, Tedder directed air operations in the Mediterranean and North Africa, including the evacuation of Crete and '' Operation Crusader'' in North Africa. His bombing tactics became known as the " Tedder Carpet". Ernest Tedder
Ernest Cranfield Tedder (5 September 1915 – 9 September 1972) was an English cricketer. Tedder was a right-handed batsman. He was born at Woodford Green, Essex. Tedder served in World War II with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, initially holding the rank of acting pilot officer. He was later promoted to flying officer in July 1941. Following the war, Tedder played first-class cricket for Essex against Somerset in the 1946 County Championship. He made seven further first-class appearances in that season, with his final appearance coming against Sussex. In his eight first-class appearances, he scored 208 runs at an average of 14.85, with a high score of 55. This score, which was his only half century, came against Sussex. He died on 9 September 1972 at Ipswich, Suffolk. Henry Richard Tedder
Henry Richard Tedder (25 June 1850 – 1 August 1924) was an English librarian. He was librarian of the Athenaeum Club, London, and was a founder of the Library Association. Life Tedder was born in 1850 in Victoria Grove, Kensington, London, son of William Henry Tedder and his wife Elizabeth ''née'' Ferries. His brother Sir Arthur John Tedder, a civil servant, was the father of Arthur Tedder, 1st Baron Tedder. From 1873 to 1874 he was librarian to John Dalberg-Acton, 1st Baron Acton, cataloguing his private collection of books. In 1874 he became assistant to Spencer Hall, librarian of the Athenaeum Club, London, of which Lord Acton was a member. Hall died in 1875 and Tedder became librarian, remaining in the post until retirement in 1914. From 1888 he was also secretary of the Athenaeum. John Michael Tedder, 2nd Baron Tedder, FRSE FRSC (4 July 1926 – 18 February 1994), was the Purdie Professor of Chemistry at St. Andrews University, Scotland. Early life and education He was born in London on 4 July 1926, the second born son of Arthur William Tedder and Rosalinde Maclardy. His father had a military career in the Royal Air Force, that culminated in his becoming Marshal of the Royal Air Force. As his father's military appointments involved frequent changes, the Tedder family's residences also shifted.
