Ted Tanner
Edgar Miles Ponsonby "Ted" Tanner (born 19 March 1947) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Caulfield; his father, Sir Edgar Tanner, was a Victorian MLA from 1955 to 1976. He attended Melbourne Grammar School and received a Master of Business Administration from Swinburne University of Technology. From 1971 to 1973 he was private secretary to the Victorian Minister for Health and from 1973 to 1976 the Chief secretary, before becoming Victorian tourism promotion officer in London from 1976 to 1979. Caulfield, Victoria
Caulfield is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Glen Eira local government area. Caulfield recorded a population of 5,748 at the 2021 census. It is bounded by Kooyong Road in the west, Glen Eira Road in the north, Glen Huntly Road in the south and Booran Road in the east. Caulfield is best known as the location of Caulfield Racecourse and the Caulfield campus of Monash University. Edgar Tanner
Sir Edgar Stephen Tanner, CBE (10 August 1904 - 21 November 1979) was an Australian sports administrator and Victorian politician. He was a former secretary-general and president of the Australian Olympic Federation and Chairman of the Australian Commonwealth Games Association. Personal Tanner was born on 10 August 1904 at Albany, Western Australia. He was the eldest of four children. He attended All Saints Grammar School, St Kilda and studied commerce at the University of Melbourne. He joined the advertising staff of the Herald and Weekly Times. On 11 June 1938, he married Edna May Ponsonby. He died on 21 November 1979 at North Caulfield and was survived by his wife Edna, daughter Anne and son Ted, a former member of the Victorian Parliament and boxing administrator. The electoral district of Caulfield is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. The electorate is surrounded by the other electoral districts of Prahran, Albert Park, Malvern, Oakleigh, Bentleigh and Brighton. It covers the metropolitan suburbs of Caulfield, Caulfield North, Caulfield South, Caulfield East, Elsternwick, Gardenvale, Ripponlea and Balaclava and parts of St Kilda East, St Kilda, Glen Huntly and Ormond within South-East Melbourne. Charles Francis (politician)
Charles Hugh Francis (15 July 1924 – 14 August 2009) was an Australian politician. He was born in Belgrave to medical practitioner Shirley Elliston Francis and Constance Mary Varley. He was educated at Belgrave, Camberwell and Melbourne Grammar Schools before studying at the University of Sydney, where he received bachelor's degrees of Arts, Law and Commerce. From 1942 to 1945 he served in the Royal Australian Air Force. He was a barrister from 1949, and on 28 October 1953 married Babette Avita Saldanha, with whom he had eight children. A member of the Liberal Party, he was Chairman of the Monash electoral committee from 1969 to 1975 and president of the Stonnington branch for the party from 1970 to 1973. Helen Shardey
Helen Jean Shardey OAM (born in Melbourne) was an Australian State Politician for the Liberal Party who held the seat of Caulfield from 1996 to 2010. She served as the Shadow Minister for Ageing, Community Services, Muticultural Affairs, Housing, and later Shadow Minister for Health (including Mental Health). In 1999 as the Member for Caulfield Helen Shardey was awarded a Jerusalem Day Prize. In recognition of her support for the Melbourne Jewish Community and the State of Israel, after just three years in Parliament.
