Ted Belcher
Ted Belcher (July 21, 1924 – November 19, 1966) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Vietnam War. He was also a recipient of a Purple Heart, a National Defense Medal, and both the Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign Medals. Biography Belcher joined the Army from Huntington, West Virginia in April 1943, and served in World War II. By November 19, 1966, he was serving as a Sergeant in Company C, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. On that day, at Plei Djereng Camp in the Republic of Vietnam, Belcher smothered the blast of an enemy-thrown hand grenade with his body, sacrificing himself to protect those around him. Accoville, West Virginia
Accoville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Logan County, West Virginia, United States. The community lies along Buffalo Creek. As of the 2010 United States Census, its population was 574. Geography Accoville is in southeastern Logan County, in the valley of Buffalo Creek, and extending to the east up its Right Fork. It is bordered by Amherstdale to the northeast (up Buffalo Creek) and by Kistler to the southwest (down the creek). Logan, the county seat, is to the northwest, down Buffalo Creek and then the Guyandotte River.
