Teatro De La Luna
Teatro de la Luna is an Arlington County, Virginia Theater founded in 1991 that aims to preserve Hispanic heritage. It houses events including: the International Festivals of Hispanic Theater, Latino film festivals and Immigration films festivals. Budget Teatro de la Luna is supported by the Arlington Cultural Affairs Division of Arlington Economic Development and the Arlington Commission for the Arts. Arlington County is a County (United States), county in the Virginia, Commonwealth of Virginia. The county is situated in Northern Virginia on the southwestern bank of the Potomac River directly across from the Washington, D.C., District of Columbia, of which it was District of Columbia retrocession, once a part. GALA Hispanic Theatre
GALA (Grupo de Artistas LatinoAmericanos) Hispanic Theatre is a theater located at 3333 14th St NW in Washington, D.C. It hosts plays in Spanish and English, as well as dance, music, poetry, spoken word, art and films. History The GALA Hispanic Theatre was founded in 1976 by Hugo and Rebecca Read Medrano and their supporters with the aim of preserving and promoting Hispanic language and culture. There are many theaters in Washington, D.C., but there was not one for Hispanics until the opening of GALA. Their playwrights and their actors are of Hispanic heritage, hailing from countries including Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Peru. The Office on Latino Affairs of the District of Columbia (OLA) was created by the passage of DC Law 1-86 by the city council on September 29, 1976, and was made part of the Executive office of the Mayor of the District of Columbia.
