Team9
Team9 is the work of the English-Australian producer Neil Mason. Most of his work is unauthorized mashups. Team9 formed in 1997 as a five piece band and released two albums, ''Gas and Air'' in 1999 and ''My Tape Machine'' in 2002. Originally playing guitar based pop, by 2002 Team9 were incorporating samples, loops and synths into their production. Having slowly evolved over three years into a one-man outfit, Team9 played in the web based bootleg scene for a number of years before getting more involved in late 2004. Throughout 2005, Team9 featured on Live 105 and Indie 103 in the US, Qui FM and NRJ in France, BBC Radio 1 and the Remix and Rinse shows on XFM in the UK. They have also had tracks featured in magazines such as ''Blender'', ''Spin'', ''NME'', ''Zoo'' and '' GQ''. 2005 finished with Team9 collaborating on a Green Day mash up album titled ' American Edit by Dean Gray', with San Francisco's Party Ben. Stereogum
''Stereogum'' is a daily Internet publication that focuses on music news, reviews, interviews, and commentary. The site was created in January 2002 by Scott Lapatine. ''Stereogum'' was one of the first MP3 blogs and has received several awards and citations, including the PLUG Award for Music Blog of the Year, ''Blender''s Powergeek 25, and ''Entertainment Weekly''s Best Music Websites. The site was named an Official Honoree of the Webby Awards in the music category and won the OMMA Award for Web Site Excellence in the Entertainment/Music category. In 2011, ''Stereogum'' won ''The Village Voice''s Music Blog of the Year. History The site was named after a lyric from the song "Radio #1" by the French electronic duo Air. Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is the fourth most populous city in Australia and Oceania, with a population of 2.1 million (80% of the state) living in Greater Perth in 2020. ''American Edit'' is a mashup album released by Party Ben and Team9 under the shared alias Dean Gray. Its primary basis is the Green Day album '' American Idiot''—the name "Dean Gray" is a spoonerism of "Green Day". Release and aftermath The album was an internet-only release with no intent of commercial gain; Dean Gray asked fans who enjoyed the album to donate to charities Green Day had been known to support. Nevertheless, only 10 days after its November 18, 2005, release, the ''American Edit'' website was shut down, reportedly after receiving a cease and desist order from Green Day's label, Warner Records, despite Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong having called the project "really cool".
