Trabzon
Trabzon (; Ancient Greek: Tραπεζοῦς (''Trapezous''), Ophitic Pontic Greek: Τραπεζούντα (''Trapezounta''); Georgian: ტრაპიზონი (''Trapizoni'')), historically known as Trebizond in English, is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Trabzon, located on the historical Silk Road, became a melting pot of religions, languages and culture for centuries and a trade gateway to Persia in the southeast and the Caucasus to the northeast. The Venetian and Genoese merchants paid visits to Trabzon during the medieval period and sold silk, linen and woolen fabric. ''Haze'' ( tr, Pus) is a 2010 Turkish drama film, directed by Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, starring Ruhi Sarı as a withdrawn young man who gets caught up with a shadowy criminal plot. The film, which went on nationwide general release across Turkey on , premiered at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival (February 11–21, 2010). Plot Reşat, a withdrawn and asocial young man who works at a pirate DVD shop, represses his feelings for the girl next door, and adds excitement to his life with petty theft. The film turns into a thriller when the shadowy Celal, a friend of Reşat's boss, gets shot just after he leaves a package in the shop and Reşat has to make sense of the photo and the gun it contains. Review Hürriyet Daily News reviewer Emrah Güler describes the film as, "a story of people living on the edge," and recommends it to those, "who have enjoyed director and writer Pirselimoğlu’s human stories both on screen and in published novels," but not to those, "wanting to see a ... Kerr (film)
''Kerr'' is a 2021 Turkish-language thriller drama film written and directed by Tayfun Pirselimoğlu. The film based on his eponymous novel, follows Can, who witnessed a murder in the village for his father's funeral. It had its premiere in October 2021 at the 58th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. It was selected as the Turkish entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards. Plot Can is stranded in the town where his father had a tailor shop. He came to attend his funeral but witnessed a murder at the station's men's room. Can alerted the police, however, the police, the coastal town officials and citizens, seemed more interested in his whereabouts and reason for visiting than investigating the crime. ''Yol'' (; translated as ''The Way'', ''The Road'' or ''The Path'') is a 1982 Turkish film directed by Şerif Gören and Yılmaz Güney. The screenplay was written by Yılmaz Güney, and it was directed by his assistant Şerif Gören, as Güney was in prison at the time. Later, after Güney escaped from Imrali prison, he took the negatives of the film to Switzerland and later edited it in Paris. The film is a portrait of Turkey in the aftermath of the 1980 Turkish coup d'état: its people and its authorities are shown via the stories of five prisoners given a week's home leave. The film has caused much controversy in Turkey, and was banned until 1999. However, it won numerous honours, including the Palme d'Or at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival. Saç (film)
A tava(h) / tawa(h) (mainly on the Indian subcontinent), saj (in Arabic), sac (in Turkish) and other variations and combinations thereof, is a metal-made cooking utensil. The tawa is round and can be flat, but more commonly has a curved profile, and while the concave side can be used as a wok or frying pan, the convex side is used for cooking flatbreads and pancakes.
