Taviani
Paolo Taviani (; born 8 November 1931) and Vittorio Taviani (; 20 September 1929 – 15 April 2018), collectively referred to as the Taviani brothers, were Italian film directors and screenwriters who collaborated on film productions. At the Cannes Film Festival, the Taviani brothers won the ''Palme d'Or'' and the FIPRESCI prize for ''Padre Padrone'' in 1977 and the '' Grand Prix du Jury'' for '' La notte di San Lorenzo'' (''The Night of the Shooting Stars'', 1982). In 2012 they won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival with ''Caesar Must Die''. Vittorio Taviani died on 15 April 2018 at the age of 88. Padre Padrone
''Padre Padrone'' is a 1977 Italian film directed by Paolo Taviani and Vittorio Taviani. The Tavianis used both professional and non-professional actors from the Sardinian countryside. The title () literally means "Father Master"; it has been translated as ''My Father, My Master'' or ''Father and Master''. The drama was originally filmed by the Taviani brothers for Italian television but won the 1977 ''Palme d'Or'' prize at the 1977 Cannes Film Festival. The film depicts a Sardinian shepherd who is terrorized by his domineering father and tries to escape by educating himself. He eventually becomes a celebrated linguist. Lina Nerli Taviani (born 16 November 1937) is an Italian costume designer, and wife of film director Paolo Taviani. Biography Nerli began working as a costume designer in the 1960s and her first film work was on '' The Reckless'' directed by Giuliano Montaldo. Since then, she has created costumes for over seventy films and television productions, most of which directed by her husband and her brother-in-laws Paolo and Vittorio Taviani. Valentino Orsini (19 January 1927 in Pisa – 26 January 2001 in Cerveteri) was an Italian film director. After his first interests to arts (he had been sculptor, stage designer, cinema critic, cineclub animator) in his hometown, in 1954 Valentino Orsini directed with the brothers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani (born in the near small city of San Miniato) the documentary ''San Miniato: luglio'' 1944. After other documentaries, most with Taviani brothers, he realized his first fiction films in 1962 and in 1963, both with the two brothers. After other documentaries Orsini directed his first fiction film alone, ''I dannati della terra'' in 1969. Grand Prix (Cannes Film Festival)
The Grand Prix is an award of the Cannes Film Festival bestowed by the jury of the festival on one of the competing feature films. It is the second-most prestigious prize of the festival after the Palme d'Or, and it replaced the Special Jury Prize, which was considered a "second place" award until after this award was introduced. The Golden Bear (german: Goldener Bär) is the highest prize awarded for the best film at the Berlin International Film Festival. The bear is the heraldic animal of Berlin, featured on both the coat of arms and flag of Berlin. History The winners of the first Berlin International Film Festival in 1951 were determined by a West German panel, with five winners of the Golden Bear, divided by categories and genres.
