Taverny
Taverny () is a commune in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the center of Paris. Inhabitants are called ''Tabernaciens''. History In 1806 the commune of Taverny merged with the neighboring commune of Saint-Leu, resulting in the creation of the commune of ''Saint-Leu-Taverny''. In 1821 the commune of ''Saint-Leu-Taverny'' was demerged. Thus, Taverny and Saint-Leu were both restored as separate communes. On 30 March 1922, a part of the territory of Taverny was detached and merged with a part of the territory of Montigny-lès-Cormeilles and a part of the territory of Pierrelaye to create the commune of Beauchamp. Florence Portelli was elected Mayor of Taverny in 2014, and re-elected in 2020. Population Transport Taverny is served by two stations on the Transilien Paris-Nord suburban rail line: Vaucelles and Taverny. Vaucelles Station
Vaucelles is a railway station located in the commune of Taverny (Val-d'Oise department), France. The station is served by Transilien H trains, on the line from Paris to Persan-Beaumont. The daily number of passengers was between 500 and 2,500 in 2002. Vaucelles is located on the line from Ermont-Eaubonne to Valmondois, that was opened in 1876. The line was electrified in 1970. Taverny Air Base
Taverny Air Base (formerly ''Base Aérienne 921 "Frères Mahé" de Taverny'') is located in the communities of Taverny and Bessancourt in the Val d'Oise département of France, twenty kilometers north of Paris. Until 2011 it was the headquarters of the French Air Force nuclear strike force, with an underground command center. The base is divided into three tiers with an area of approximately 15 hectares: *The first tier is underground in a former gypsum quarry beneath the Forest of Montmorency. The facility comprised the hardened command facility for the French Air Force. *The second tier is on the surface, and provided support services for the underground command center. *The third tier is at the top of the hill, with facilities for secure military communications. Florence Portelli
Florence Portelli (born 23 March 1978 in Argenteuil) is a French politician who has been serving as Mayor of Taverny since 2014. She has also been a regional councillor of Île-de-France since 2015. A longtime member of The Republicans, Portelli served as François Fillon's spokeswoman during his presidential election campaign in 2017.
